EVO is the biggest fighting game tournament. The winners go down in history triumphing in their chosen game. Punk was this year’s winner for one of the biggest events, Street Fighter 6. A landmark entry in the series and the fighting game genre. However, he’s had some complaints about how long it has taken to get the evidence. Punk’s EVO trophy is finally here, after quite the hold-up.
Trophies for esports events like this aren’t always handed over immediately after the ceremony. In the case of this year’s EVO tournament, things got a bit slower than normal it seems. The series has expanded massively in recent years with ambitious moves like launching new tournaments in Europe. While some players have had some complaints about the time scale, it seems the main EVO event has now rolled out its trophies too.
Punk Finally Receives EVO Trophy
In recent months, Punk has been the standout player in Street Fighter. Off the back of his huge EVO win, he’s one of the favorites going into the next Capcom Cup. A little earlier in November, Punk pointed out that after four months he hadn’t received his trophy yet! That the delivery date had been repeatedly pushed back since September. An explanation was given, that engraving was taking place, which was delaying things. However, players were worried about how long the player was taking to get his trophy. That’s changed this week.
