Sora’s voice actor since 2001 has commented on Tetsuya Nomura’s recent claim that KH4 is working towards a conclusion.
The title was tentatively due for release in 2024, but it looks set to miss that release window six weeks before the end of the year.
Square Enix Confirms Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Delayed
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is set to be Square’s answer to Pokemon GO. The game is a location-based adventure in which players can “collect Disney character ‘Pieces’ and team up with allies to defeat Heartless through the power of friendship. Use ‘GPS-Mode’ to play on the go or use “Touch-Mode” from the comforts of your home by teleporting to locations around the world!”
Although Missing-Link was set for release in the next six weeks, news on the title had gone quiet until recently, when Square Enix issued the following statement:
While preparing for the launch of “KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link”, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release. We sincerely apologize to all players who have been looking forward to the release. We appreciate your patience. Please look forward to further information.
While news of the delay is unlikely to come as a major surprise to fans, there was some hope that information about the title was imminent. Last month, the Union X Dark Road App received an update out of the blue. This, along with a Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Dev page being spotted online, turned out to be false alarms, and the game is now facing another delay.
Earlier this year, Missing-Link’s second closed beta test was pushed back a week, dropping from April into May.
It’s another disappointment for Kingdom Hearts fans, with news on the next mainline title, Kingdom Hearts 4, also sparse. Series Director Tetsuya Nomora has confirmed that the story is moving towards its conclusion, with 4 acting as a reset, but outside of this, little else has been shared in over a year.
