Game Characters That Deserve To Be In The Movie

Key Takeaways

  • The Dead by Daylight movie under Blumhouse Productions is highly anticipated with the potential for different horror directions.
  • Characters like The Clown, Haddie, Sable Ward, and The Unknown offer unique and terrifying backstory opportunities.
  • The Trapper, a killer mascot, and The Entity, the main antagonist, are crucial components that tie the lore together.

Despite the in-depth lore behind the Entity, the trials, and all of Dead by Daylight as a whole, there are very few who could have predicted it would be receiving its very own movie adaptation. Under the care of Blumhouse Productions, who have earned a reputation for producing excellent horror movies, there are high hopes for the Dead by Daylight film.

Dead By Daylight: Every Killer, Ranked

Dead By Daylight allows players to play as their favorite killers from horror movies, along with some fresh faces. However, not all killers are equal.

So far, there is very little information about what fans can expect, whether it’s going to be a comedy horror in the vein of Cabin in the Woods, or something more serious and frightening. Regardless of which direction the film is taken in, there are multiple strong contenders for whom the main villains and protagonists should be.

9 The Clown

Taps into a Common Phobia

Clowns are one of the most feared things in this entire world, spreading terror and fear rather than joy and laughter to a lot of people. They have been utilized in many horror movies and TV shows, most famously Pennywise from IT. Despite the saturation of clowns in horror media, there is always room for more, just like their comically small clown cars.

The Clown, also known as Kenneth Chase and also known as Jeffrey Hawk, may not be the scariest killer in the game but could be the scariest killer in a movie. His tendency to cut off people’s fingers like a trophy and his use of tonics to weaken his prey are both perfect for a new and terrifying slasher killer.

8 Mikaela Reid

Adds a Witchy Twist

This original character was responsible for adding a whole new mechanic to the game: blessing. Being a witch, Mikaela could bless a blank totem, or even override a hex as though it had been cleansed, and replace it with a boon to aid the survivors. It was an interesting direction to take the game, as even with all the Entity’s dark eldritch powers, it had veered away from magic on the survivor side of things.

Giving the protagonists powers would mean that the killer would need some additional powers, supernatural or grounded in reality, in order to prevent Mikaela from being an overpowered character. Magic is something that is underused in horror movies, and Mikaela would be the perfect way to inject a magical sparkle into horror.

7 The Huntress

A Killer with a Folk-Horror Backstory

Dead by Daylight’s popularity is largely due not only to its impressive A-list collabs but also the vast amount of original killers with a wealth of intriguing lore built around these characters. The Huntress is surprisingly a rather tragic and dark character and one that comes free with the game. She is one of the more popular picks due to just how much of a powerhouse she is, but her lore is nothing to sniff at either.

Anna and her mother lived in seclusion living off what the land provided until tragedy struck, and the young girl watched her mother’s life bleed away. She went on from hunting animals to humans, but she could never bring herself to kill any little girls and instead tried to mother them in her own, rather twisted way. This backstory would be interesting to see play out on the big screen, and horror movies are in dire need of more female villains.

6 Dwight Fairfield

Every Horror Movie Needs the Cautious Coward

It would not be inaccurate to call Dwight one of the main characters of the game, what with him being a base character and used in a lot of marketing, appearing in various trailers and teasers for Dead by Daylight and its DLCs. Although there are many Dwight players that could loop a killer for days, he still has a bit of a reputation for hiding in lockers, and general other acts of cowardice.

But it’s this exact reputation that could warrant his inclusion in the movie adaptation. Not every horror movie character can be an action hero on the levels of GI-Joe, and in fact, it needs the more relatable characters that are in way over their heads, which would be the perfect role for the resident locker jockey. It would also be a good opportunity to offset some of the horror with a bit of humor, especially if the movie goes for the horror-comedy angle.

5 Haddie Kaur

A Paranormal Investigator with a Sense for the Supernatural

Every Dead by Daylight character has tricks or talents up their sleeve, such as Nea being a skilled street artist, or Kate a singer. Haddie has a far more supernatural talent, as she can sense the presence of another world, something cosmic just lurking behind a veil that is thinned in certain areas. This is what leads her to become a paranormal investigator, arming herself with equipment and embarking into supposedly haunted locations.

Paranormal investigators or mediums are common and often essential characters, especially in movies about ghosts or demons. With the Entity existing in its own realm, Haddie is an important character in the lore, and so she would be in the movie as well. She could fill the role of the last-minute hero, whose knowledge and powers are used to save the others trapped in the realm.

4 Sable Ward

Courageously Enters the Entity’s Realm Willingly

Many game characters are dragged into the Entity’s realm against their will, pulled kicking and screaming into the other dimension where hope is just a barely flickering flame, enough for the dread and terror to become potent enough to feed the Lovecraftian creature. There are very few who would be courageous, or perhaps foolish, enough to enter of their own volition, but this is exactly what Sable Ward does.

A close friend to resident witch Mikaela, Sable has magic inclinations of her own, focused on invocations rather than boons. After Mikaela disappeared, Sable’s investigations led her to the same fog that took her friend, which she willingly entered. This fearless courage would serve her will in a horror movie setting, and it would be interesting to see if the events of the movie would make or break her.

3 The Unknown

The Scariest Original Killer

The Unknown arrived on the scene with Sable, and with some of the best marketing to come from Behavior. It hammered home the mystery and horror that encapsulates this terrifying killer that can assume different forms, and even mimic voices and words it has heard. Its twisted body and disjointed limbs make something eerie and deep within the uncanny valley.

If Blumhouse intends to create a serious horror aimed to startle and frighten its audience, the Unknown would be the perfect killer to choose. The way it moves, looks, and sounds are all bone-chilling.

2 The Trapper

The Killer Mascot Synonymous with Dead by Daylight

If Dead by Daylight has one mascot, it would likely be the Trapper, appearing in many promotional materials such as trailers and posters. One of the original bread-and-butter killers, the Trapper does exactly what his name suggests, ensnaring hapless survivors in one of the many beat traps he places around the map. Once they are ensnared, they are at his mercy unless they can free themselves before he reaches them…

He is a rather chilling killer to behold with his unnerving mask hiding his visage which might be even more terrifying, which is something that the movie could choose to reveal during the film’s climax.

1 The Entity

The Creature That Pulls All the Strings is Essential

Though there are over 30 killers in Dead by Daylight, there is one main antagonist at the heart of it all, and that is the Entity. Not much is known about this mysterious creature, other than it is the one that drags all the unsuspecting victims into its realm of fog and misery. It feeds off the survivor’s terror and the killer’s bloodlust, setting up these hunting grounds so it can enjoy a hearty meal.

As the guilty part for the events of everything that transpires in Dead by Daylight, it would only be natural for the Entity to be included as the main big bad, which in turn would add an intriguing and unnerving cosmic horror angle.
