Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, for the most part, has managed to finally deliver the Zombies experience that fans have been craving since the days of Black Ops 3 and 4. Round-based Zombies is finally back, and both of Black Ops 6‘s launch maps have their distinct strengths and identities, and both are packed full of Easter eggs. Gobblegums are also back, and the Perk-a-Cola system feels more rewarding than ever thanks to the game’s unlockable Augments.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has laid some very strong foundations for its Zombies mode, and its journey is far from over. Already, Black Ops 6 Zombies has received some much-needed buffs and nerfs, and during Black Ops 6‘s first season the mode is set to receive a brand new map. But Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies could still be improved, and an old Black Ops 2 mechanic might be a worthwhile addition.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Has Gone Above and Beyond for New Players
One of the biggest appeals of the Call of Duty franchise as a whole is that it’s fairly approachable for newcomers, with its fast-paced arcade-y, pick-up-and-play gameplay style encouraging new players to hop in and try just a few rounds. This is especially true for Call of Duty‘s Zombies mode, with its round-based system, constant progression, and replayable nature being a natural fit for new players looking to have some co-op, non-competitive fun.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has gone out of its way to try and make its own version of Zombies as accessible to newcomers as possible. One of the biggest ways it’s done this is via the design of the Liberty Falls map. Liberty Falls features a fairly simple two-lane layout, its Pack-a-Punch machine is easy to find and use, and the map’s power is automatically turned on from the get-go, meaning that players can immediately purchase any Perk-a-Cola they come across.
Black Ops 6‘s accessibility doesn’t stop with Liberty Falls, however. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s Season 1 update, Directed Mode has been added to Zombies. This Directed Mode takes players through Liberty Falls and Terminus’ main Easter eggs step-by-step, capping the round’s count and wave difficulty if players haven’t completed a specific objective yet. For years, fans have needed to keep one eye on a Crawler while trying to follow a guide to complete Call of Duty Zombies‘ Easter eggs, but now they finally have a way to experience that guided process in-game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Could Use BO2’s Bank Feature
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 tried to introduce some innovative new ideas to Zombies, and unfortunately, only a few stuck around. Black Ops 2‘s Bank feature was one of the unfortunate ones to never return. Available on TranZit, Die Rise, and Buried, players could find a bank hidden somewhere on the map. This bank had two glowing keys inserted into a cash register or lockbox or, in the case of Die Rise, a shower.
Turning one of these keys would deposit 1000 of the player’s points, and turning the other would withdraw 1000 points. This Bank feature allowed players to store their points for future matches, and transfer points between the three compatible maps. Players could also share points by using a Pack-a-Punched Ballistic Knife, Bowie Knife, or a pair of Galvaknuckles on a separate set of keys. Doing so would allow them to spend 1000 points to spawn a Bonus Points power-up of the same value, which a teammate could walk into.
Black Ops 2‘s Bank feature would be a great addition to Black Ops 6‘s Zombies mode, giving players a way to directly help new players and fellow teammates who might not have a lot of experience with the mode and all of its various forms of progression and currency systems. A Bank feature would also fit right at home with Liberty Falls’ layout, as the map already contains a vault.
