Best Builds for Oree in Temtem Swarm

Best Builds for Oree in Temtem Swarm

Temtem Swarm allows players to choose from several different Tems to play as while holding off huge swarms of enemies. While only Platypet and Smazee are initially available, the current build contains seven different Tems for players to choose from once they’re unlocked.

One Tem you can unlock after beating the first main boss of Temtem Swarm is Oree. This digital Tem is an expert in AOE attacks and comes with the ability to dash right at the start of a round. This makes it quite a mobile fighter, though its starting technique can make reaching the later parts of a round tricky without careful planning. This guide will discuss Oree’s playstyle, what to prioritise at the start of a round, and how to set up all of Oree’s powerful synergies.

Best Skills for Oree in Temtem Swarm

Temtem Swarm_Oree_Skill Tree

Oree’s Skill Tree offers plenty of ways to make its attacks more deadly and improve the effectiveness of its Dash. You’ll want to grab the following skills first to make things easier:

  • Technique Cooldown: This reduces the time between techniques firing, allowing you to spam big area attacks like Turbo Attack and Fire Tornado with surprising speed.
  • Area: Simple and straightforward, this one increases the area your techniques affect, which makes it easier to decimate entire hordes of Tems.
  • Projectile: This gives you one extra projectile on all attacks, which includes Fire Tornado and Data Corruption, making it a great way to double your damage output.
  • Range: This increases the pickup range for any items on the ground, which is useful to help you level up without getting too close to enemies. More importantly, though, it’s a prerequisite for the next skill.
  • Experience Multiplier: Oree’s biggest weakness is a weak early-game as their Data Corruption attack isn’t very strong and makes them vulnerable until they can level up and get more techniques. Experience Multiplier will help you to amass power quickly and get the ball rolling.
  • Reroll: Another simple but powerful one, this will let you reroll your options when levelling up, making it easier to track down essential upgrades like Fire Tornado early on.
  • Block: Similarly, Block allows you to remove a chosen item from the selection when levelling up for the rest of the run, letting you narrow your options to increase the odds of getting what you need.

How to Build Oree in Temtem Swarm

Start of the Round & Priorities

Temtem Swarm_Fire Tornado Synergy

When starting a round with Oree, your number one priority should be grabbing more techniques. Turbo Attack and Fire Tornado are especially important here since they’ll help Oree eliminate large groups of enemies and gather experience cubes quickly. Data Burst is very valuable later on, but quite weak initially, so it’s a slightly lower priority here. Oree’s starting technique, Data Corruption, is great at slowing enemies down and can be manually aimed as of version 0.5, so you should use it to stop enemies from getting too close and to keep them in the area of your more deadly attacks. Data Corruption is unfortunately very weak on its own, so upgrading it can wait until you’ve got some reliable damage options to support you.

Temtem Swarm_Oree Gameplay

Once you’ve got Turbo Attack and/or Fire Tornado reliably firing, you can start picking up some gear. You should look out for the Fire Chip, the Volgan Scale, and the Drill. The Fire Chip will boost fire damage, which is useful for Fire Tornado. The Volgan Scale will increase all damage dealt, and the Drill allows your projectile attacks like Data Burst to pierce through multiple targets. All three of these offer a vital secondary benefit once certain techniques are at max level, too.

Once you have these three, you should look out for the Holster to get more projectiles out of Data Corruption and Data Burst, or Kaleidogrease to increase the duration of the slow fields created by Data Corruption. (Naturally, once Oree has extra gear slots unlocked, you should try to pick up both.) The Motherboard and Kusanagi are also excellent choices, with the former raising all digital damage dealt while the latter increases damage dealt to bosses and mini-bosses.

Synergies

Temtem Swarm_Turbo Attack Synergy

By maxing out Fire Tornado while having a Fire Chip, you can upgrade it into Fire Tornado+, causing all of your fire tornadoes to leave behind trails of flames, which can deal additional damage to any enemies touching them. Similarly, maxing out Turbo Attack with a Volgan Scale will let you upgrade it into Turbo Attack+, which causes your Turbo Attacks to light enemies on fire, dealing damage over time as they burn.

Temtem Swarm_Data Burst Synergy

Data Burst +, unlocked by maxing out Data Burst with a Drill equipped, will constantly fire piercing data projectiles at enemies as they approach (not unlike the Holy Wand from Vampire Survivors), dealing a truly ludicrous amount of damage that can be further boosted by the Motherboard item. Data Corruption+ is obtained by maxing out Data Corruption with Kaleidogrease equipped and will cause additional projectiles to fire in all directions after creating a slow field, which can be useful for dealing some extra damage as you go.

Playstyle and General Strategy

Temtem Swarm_Oree

With Oree, you’re going to need to play cautiously at the start of a round, using your dash to dodge enemies and deal a little extra damage until you level up enough to really start dealing damage with your AOE techniques. Data Corruption is quite weak in terms of raw damage, but it’s excellent for slowing enemies down, while Oree’s Ultimate Attack, Mechanical Heat, allows them to rain down missiles on random spots all across the screen. Use this when the swarm gets particularly big to help clear some space or activate it when doing optional defense objectives to help stem the incoming tide.

If you’re working with other players, you can afford to play a little riskier and use Data Corruption to lock down troublesome foes for your allies while they keep the horde off your back.
