Music is a powerful tool. This extends to plays, movies, and of course, video games. Some of the series’ most iconic music comes from Dragon Quest 3 Remake, and there are plenty of little musical items to celebrate that musical heritage.

Complete your set of legendary equipment in DQ3 Remake with the auroral helm, and the lengthy steps required to unlock it.
One of those items is the Lyre of Ire, found only in Alefgard, the World of Darkness. Outside of meeting Galen, there is very little by ways of telling you where to find the Lyre of Ire, it’s location but a speck on the world map. We’ll get you to that most wonderful of instruments in no time.
How To Find Galen’s House
While you can find Galen, the wandering bard, in the town of Cantlin, he does not have his Lyre of Ire in his possession. It had an odd habit of attracting monsters any time he played it, so he left it at home with his parents. Where that is though, he gives no indication.
In fact, no one gives any idea as to where this tiny little hamlet dwells, with random searching being your only recourse. This home is so small it does not even appear on the map. SO how are you meant to even know it exists? Well, in the time of Dragon Quest 1, Galen’s House is actually Galenholm, and is located in the same place. That is your hint.
To save you playing the original game just to find that though, directions would be a whole lot faster. Travel north-west from Tantegel and you will come across Talontear Tunnel. This is the halfway point to the house. Continue on in this direction until you reach the coastline. Galen’s House will be resting by the shoreline.
Every Optional Item In Galen’s House
Inside the home, you will meet Galen’s parents. They don’t have much to say, with his father even claiming the Lyre of Ire is with Galen still. Clearly without any particularly helpful information, you may as well go loot the house for any goods you can find.
The contents of the house include:
- A Mini Medal.
- A Doh-hican.
- Outside by the basement entrance, a Shell Slime.
- In the basement, a Spiked Steel Whip.
Nothing too hefty. It is a rather humble abode, after all.
Where To Find The Ire Of Lyre
In the basement, right by all the barrels, is a chest. Inside is the Lyre of Ire. Galen and his parent’s don’t really seem to mind that you’ve taken it. Probably because of that pesky side effect of playing it.
Unlike the Faerie Flute, which puts any enemy that hears it to sleep, the Lyre of Ire has the exact opposite effect. Whenever it is played, monsters will suddenly ambush you, pulling you into battle. Not exactly suitable for a wandering minstrel, though great for a band of heroes hoping to level up quickly. It’s a helpful tool for farming items as well.
The Lyre of Ire can only be used in locations that monsters typically appear, and will have no effect if played in towns or other peaceful areas.
