It’s awards season again
The Game Awards, an annual celebration of video games, takes place this December, and the nominees have now been announced for the 2024 showcase.
In 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 III took home the highly coveted Game of the Year award. This year, the nominees for GOTY include Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth received seven nominations each, leading the way. Sony was the most-nominated publisher overall, picking up 16 nominations, followed by Square Enix and Xbox with a dozen each and Sega with 11.
A global jury including more than 130 media publications and outlets voted to come up with the nominees this year.
