Rumours of a Bloodborne remaster or remake fall under the same category as Half-Life 3 rumours. While the latter actually appears to have some movement on it after all these years, Bloodborne fans haven’t even heard a whimper from their beloved game. And now, almost as an insult to injury, rumours of another FromSoftware game getting a remaster have started to swirl.
According to XboxEra’s Speshal_Nick, it looks like a remaster of Dark Souls 3 might be in the works. There’s no other proof to back up this claim, but Nick mentioned on the podcast that he learned of this development via one of his sources. He said that he got a “DM [out of] nowhere the other day” relaying this information.
Dark Souls 3 May Be Getting A Remaster
Nick went on to say that he does have a little more information on the alleged remaster, but isn’t allowed to pass it on to the public just yet. While a Dark Souls 3 remaster isn’t quite as anticipated as one for Bloodborne, that isn’t to say that nobody is looking forward to it. There are plenty of fans of the original series that would love to see the game get a glow-up.
While the game has been boosted to get it up to 60fps, a visual overhaul would be welcomed, especially after we’ve seen what could be achieved with the Demon’s Souls remake. Over on Reddit, the reactions to this rumour seem pretty mixed, with many claiming the game isn’t dated enough to warrant a remaster.
“I don’t feel like DS3 is dated enough to need a remaster but I’ll gladly take it if it does happen,” said one comment. “I hope not, 3 is not outdated in any way and can still be played on modern consoles. It isn’t gated like bloodbourne, and it doesn’t need improvements, like dark souls 2,” said another.
As you’d expect, Bloodborne fans were quick to let their disappointment be known. “Dark Souls 3 remaster before Bloodborne? We’re living in a Dark Souls loop,” admitted the top voted comment, with many other following suit. “You can tell this might actually be true because it doesn’t say it’s bloodborne,” joked another comment.
There’s no other information on this rumour besides what we’ve heard from Nick, so don’t get your hopes up just yet. Let’s learn from the Bloodborne brigade and keep our expectations low, for now.
Rounding out the popular trilogy by FromSoftware, Dark Souls 3 sees you build your playstyle and take on enemies in brutal combat. You’ll traverse the Kingdom of Lothric, linking the fire by defeating grand bosses and reaching one of four possible endings.
