What Are Accolades In Crusader Kings 3?
At their core, Accolades are honorary titles that you can bestow upon your unlanded knights. These titles come with specific perks based on their associated attributes, which scale as the knight gains Glory. These accolades not only enhance the attributes of the knights who hold them but also provide significant benefits to your realm. Here’s how you can unlock Accolades in Crusader Kings 3:
- Open the Military tab and navigate to Knights.
- You’ll find a slot at the top labeled Accolades. Click on an empty slot (if any) to assign one.
In case you see that your accolade slots are locked, that means you haven’t yet met the minimum requirements to unlock them. Here are the prerequisites that you need to unlock first:
- Creating an accolade costs 200 Prestige.
- Only unlanded knights with at least 8 Prowess are eligible.
You can increase the available Accolade slots by holding a King or Emperor title, unlocking specific innovations like Knighthood and Bannus, and also by progressing through the Glory Dynasty Legacy.
You can have a maximum of five Accolade Knights in your realm.
How Do Accolades Work In Crusader Kings 3
Each accolade has a Primary Attribute and a Secondary Attribute, which define its bonuses. These attributes add to the strength of the knight that holds them and, depending on the title, it can also provide perks to your realm. These attributes also scale with the amount of glory accumulated. Here’s a detailed breakdown of this:
- Primary Attribute: This attribute comprises the main bonuses of the accolade, and directly influences the stats of the Knight that holds this title. This attribute levels up at Glory Ranks one, three, and five. Also, this attribute cannot be changed once the accolade is created.
- Secondary Attribute: This attribute adds a few supplementary bonuses to the Accolade. The stats of this attribute increase at Glory Ranks two, four, and six. Unlike the primary stat, this can be modified if the knight is replaced.
Knights with accolades earn Glory to level up their Accolade by accomplishing significant tasks like winning battles or tournaments. Here’s a complete breakdown of how much glory is required for each rank of the Accolade title:
Accolade Rank |
Glory Required |
---|---|
Rank I |
100 |
Rank II |
300 |
Rank III |
600 |
Rank IV |
1,000 |
Rank V |
1,500 |
Rank VI |
2,100 |
The glory rank is reduced upon the knight’s death. Your successor knight will have to acquire additional glory to regain lost ranks.
Accolades: Perks And Benefits
Apart from attribute bonuses, Accolades also provide realm-wide bonuses that vary based on their assigned title. These bonuses include, but are not limited to increased Knight Effectiveness, additional Men-at-Arms bonuses, and even reductions in the time and cost of schemes.
For example, a knight with the Tactician accolade can grant bonuses to your armies’ speed and counter-efficiency, while another with the Huntsmaster accolade could reduce risks during hunts and increase experience gains for the Hunter trait. How Does Accolade Succession Work?
When a knight with an accolade dies, the title does not disappear but passes on to a successor, provided the replacement meets the requirements. Successors inherit the accolades with a reduced amount of Glory, which can be rebuilt through further achievements.
If no eligible successor is available, one of two things can happen:
- The accolade becomes inactive until a replacement is found.
- You can recruit a suitable knight for 125 Prestige to reactivate it.
Destroying an Accolade to create a new one resets its Glory to zero, so make sure you are absolutely certain before you remove an Accolade.
