Black Ops 6 Zombies Can’t Wait For Citadelle Des Morts to Meet The Community’s Biggest Demand

Black Ops 6 Zombies Can't Wait For Citadelle Des Morts to Meet The Community's Biggest Demand

The early success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has partly stemmed from the focus on tradition and original content from Treyarch concerning the game’s popular Zombies mode. It is no secret that Zombies experiences across the wider franchise have been quite divisive and controversial in recent years, and a lot of pressure was on BO6 to bring back the feel of classic Zombies in its own portrayal of the mode.

Treyarch was aware of these expectations, with many pre-release statements regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 stressing how the game’s Zombies would have a focus on tradition. There are many ways in which Black Ops 6‘s Zombies achieves this, with the two launch maps for the mode offering a good range of round-based experiences, and with another map already being just around the corner. While this consistent introduction of fresh content is a fantastic way to continue the positive buzz surrounding Black Ops 6 Zombies, there are still some controversial core mechanics that need to be fixed as soon as possible. The massive frequency of special enemies in the higher rounds of BO6 Zombies is the most glaring example of this, and Treyarch needs to make higher rounds more balanced to give the upcoming Zombies map the reception it hopefully deserves.

The recent launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s fist season came with its own battle pass, starting a weapon-based theme that is likely to continue.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Mangler Issue Cannot Carry Over to Citadelle des Morts

Many fans have enjoyed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s return to round-based Zombies experiences, with Liberty Falls and Terminus being much more in line with classic maps when compared to the likes of Cold War‘s Outbreak Zombies and Modern Warfare 3‘s open-world take on the mode. Alongside a renewed focus on round-based maps, Black Ops 6 Zombies sees the return of a dedicated playable cast, giving extra intrigue to the narratives and many Easter eggs that the game already possesses.

Many fans were shocked to learn that a new map is already set to come to Black Ops 6 Zombies in the near future, with Citadelle des Morts being slated for a mid-season release around December. Citadelle des Morts is already drawing a lot of design comparisons to iconic past Zombies experiences, such as Black Ops 3‘s Der Eisendrache, further showcasing how BO6 is aiming to revive the feel of earlier Zombies experiences.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Special Enemy Spawn Rates Take the Punch Out of the Game

While it is great that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is striking while the iron is hot with a brand-new Zombies map, there are some lingering criticisms around the core gameplay of the mode that require immediate attention. One of the most commonplace critiques of Black Ops 6 Zombies as things stand concerns the enemy composition of higher rounds, especially closer to round 30 and beyond.

After round 30, players can expect to see an overwhelming number of special and elite enemy types in Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the likes of Manglers, Abominations, and Amalgams. These imposing enemies are renowned for their much higher health pools and devastating attacks, making them an even greater nuisance to take care of with the much greater difficulty-scaling of higher rounds.

The amount of ammunition and time it takes to eliminate the frequent special and elite enemies of higher rounds can make earning points extremely difficult and tedious, bringing high-survival matches to disappointing stand-stills. Treyarch has still made no effort to adjust these spawn rates despite how frequently this issue is raised, and it only seems right that these enemy types should be tweaked at higher rounds before attention shifts over to the next batch of Zombies content. With the upcoming Citadelle des Morts confirmed to feature a new special enemy type, it would be a shame for this criticism to continue into Black Ops 6‘s next Zombies map and stain its reception.
