Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has brought a great new installment of the long-running franchise to life. Now that Season 1 is officially underway, rumors about what is in store for Black Ops 6 have been starting to spread. Through the years, the Call of Duty games have featured an extensive roster of crossovers, which is to be expected in its newest chapter. One of the most recent rumors regarding crossovers in Black Ops 6 claims that a variety of Xbox franchises are coming to the game, including Halo.
As Microsoft’s flagship franchise, Halo and Xbox go hand-in-hand. If the rumors are true, and Black Ops 6 and Halo join forces, this could be a big moment for the beloved exclusive. Of course, this would be a huge crossover, in general, but this could mark a significant moment for Black Ops 6 players who use PlayStation, as it would be a preview of what Microsoft has been teasing with Halo. Hints at Halo coming to PlayStation have been ongoing this year, and the series coming to Black Ops 6 could offer PlayStation users a small appetizer of what that might feel like.

Black Ops 6’s Rumored Halo Crossover Could Be Huge For PlayStation
Microsoft’s Plans to Expand the Halo Franchise to Other Consoles
Recently, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer doubled down on claims that Halo and other Xbox exclusives could find homes on other platforms, including PlayStation. Although this has yet to happen, experiencing Halo through a Black Ops 6 lens is the closest PlayStation users might get until Microsoft makes an official decision on porting Halo titles to the Sony console. The Halo franchise has been featured in crossovers with other multiplatform games, like Fortnite and Minecraft, but Black Ops 6 would be a much bigger deal. When it comes to overall gameplay, Black Ops 6 and Halo are relatively close, at least by way of being fast-paced first-person shooters. If a Halo crossover is in the future, Black Ops 6 will likely feature a variety of skins and weapons, like Master Chief and Energy Swords, that bring an incredibly Halo-like experience to PlayStation consoles.
Other Microsoft Franchises Rumored to Get a Black Ops 6 Crossover
While DOOM and Gears of War will likely be just as exciting to see in Black Ops 6, Halo remains the most beloved of Microsoft’s IPs. Back in October, a report from Charlie Intel revealed that there were plans for Modern Warfare 3 to collaborate with Halo earlier this year, but that never became a reality. Although the reason for its cancelation is unclear, it seems possible that either Microsoft or Activision realized that such a high-profile crossover would be better suited for a fresh release like Black Ops 6.
Also, Modern Warfare 3 proved to be a divisive launch, and saving this type of collaboration for a more well-received title could be a much stronger move. There’s also the unfortunate possibility that negotiations eventually fell through, but it’s too early to completely count Halo out of the future of Black Ops 6 just yet.
Only Time Will Tell If Halo Officially Comes to PlayStation
The ongoing speculation that Halo could come to PlayStation has been a long-running point of discussion, but Phil Spencer officially acknowledging it as a possibility lately is huge. Black Ops 6 bringing Halo weapons and characters to PlayStation players would likely only ignite demand for a port in the future.
Microsoft exclusives
Hi-Fi Rush
,
Sea of Thieves
,
Pentiment
, and
Grounded
have all been ported to PlayStation this year.
It’s unclear if Halo will come to PlayStation or Black Ops 6, but the speculation and rumors are bound to be proven accurate or false eventually. Until Black Ops 6 makes an official announcement, these rumors don’t hold much weight. However, if true, Black Ops 6 could inadvertently be setting the stage for something bigger for the Halo franchise.
