Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set to receive a 60FPS patch on consoles on November 19, nine years after its release. This will bring the frame rate of the Victorian Era-inspired Assassin’s Creed Syndicate on current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles closer to what’s available on PC.
Having hit the shelves in 2015, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate follows the story of assassin siblings, Jacob and Evie Frye, as they build their own gang and try to wrest control of 19th-century London from the Templars. The Ubisoft Quebec-developed title is the only Assassin’s Creed game released so far to feature two main protagonists. However, this particular aspect is set to return to the series next year with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will revolve around dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe.

15 Years Ago, Assassin’s Creed 2 Laid the Groundwork for an Empire
Now that Assassin’s Creed 2 is 15 years old, it’s time to look back and contemplate its impact on one of the biggest franchises in gaming history.
Confirming a recent leak from Ubisoft Latam’s Twitter, the Assassin’s Creed publisher has announced a 60FPS performance boost coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Syndicate as a free patch. While PS5 and Xbox Series X players will be able to run the game on 4K at 60FPS, Xbox Series S owners will be restricted to playing the game at 1080p/60FPS. Interestingly, this major update for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set to land on the ninth anniversary of its PC release. It also comes nine years after its arrival on PlayStation and Xbox and four years after the launch of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. Moreover, according to official patch notes, the update size on PS5 comes up to a mere 0.75GB, whereas its size on Xbox Series consoles is 31.8GB.
Following in the footsteps of last-gen games, such as Fallout 4, which got a facelift on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles earlier this year, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is also finally getting a performance upgrade. The forthcoming patch will enable the action-adventure game to fully use the capabilities of current-gen hardware and hence improve the overall player experience. Replying to the official tweet announcement, several fans expressed their excitement at hearing the news, whereas some of them requested similar patches for other hit AC games, including Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Unity.
As of now, the chances of Unity ever hitting 60FPS on consoles rest entirely on a future patch. But, that may not be the case for Black Flag, which is rumored to be getting a remake from Ubisoft in the coming years. Although there’s not a squeak from Ubisoft about any such remake, fans may expect that to change after the French publisher releases its next major entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, on February 14, 2025.
