Arcane Could Be Followed By More League Shows Says Riot Games Lead

Arcane Needs More Than Two Seasons To Tell Its Story

Fans of Netflix‘s Arcane were disappointed to learn that the show based on League of Legends will come to an end after season two. With the show’s staggered three-episode release, the final set of episodes will be available to stream on November 23. While fans cannot wait to witness the conclusion, they’re also sad to see it end.

Arcane’s Vi Has Officially Entered Her Depressed Butch Lesbian Era

Annecy Festival and the new teaser trailer have given us an even deeper look at Arcane.

Arcane garnered a huge following thanks to its unique art style, story inspired by the LoL universe, and overall great writing, especially when it came to Jinx and Vi’s relationship. With the series finale on the horizon, fans have been hoping to see more from the studio and the world it has established. It seems their prayers might be answered, according to a Tweet by Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill.

An Entire League Of Legends

As spotted by Insider Gaming, Merrill replied to a Tweet asking why Arcane will not be getting more seasons, saying, “Cuz there are lots of other stories to tell.” While this doesn’t tell us much, it definitely indicates that Riot is considering more shows set in the League of Legends universe. They could be related or stand-alone, but it sure looks like there’s more where Arcane came from.

This short and simple response has raised the hopes of fans of the series, who may now have more LoL content to look forward to. The answer also prompted another question, asking if Riot will “reignite their Lore department and release stories and other types of content again,” which received another short and sweet answer from Merrill, “If we are able to hit the right bar, would love to.”

We recently learned that Arcane is the most expensive animated show ever made, with a total budget of $250 million. With that kind of investment, it looks unlikely that Riot will just give up on the animated series avenue. In fact, Merrill also stated that Riot Games is “more than comfortable with the spend it took to deliver a show that was worthy of our players’ time.

Add in the fact that after Arcane’s success, Netflix will also be gunning for another such show by Riot, and it looks like all the parties would be gunning for more LoL content. However, nothing has been officially announced yet, and it will probably remain that way until act three of Arcane season two is out.

Set in the League of Legends universe, Arcane focuses on sisters Violet and Powder (later Jinx) as they end up on opposite sides of a growing conflict between the wealthy utopia of Piltover and its dark undercity whose citizens wish to break away from their oppressors. Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, and Kevin Alejandro star in this animated adventure.
