The Heart Of Corruption Quest In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The Heart Of Corruption Quest In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

As players unlock the Crossroads as a traveling destination, they will come across new tasks to complete alongside their Companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Most of the mission will be related to unlocking Gates, which holds some of Solas’ memories.

The Heart Of Corruption Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is one of the Gates players will need to unlock to uncover its secrets. Unlike most of the Gates inside that require one Champion Essence to unlock, The Heart Of Corruption Gate needs three Revenant Essences to unlock.

How To Unlock The Heart Of Corruption Gate In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

To unlock The Heart Of Corruption Gate in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players must clear the Blight from Beacon Island by obtaining three Revenant Essences. To put it simply, players need to do the following to clear the Blight:

  • Complete the Gate of Deep Sorrows Quest.
  • Defeat the Betrayal of Felassan boss (level 32).
  • Complete the Gate of Parched Hope Quest.
  • Defeat the Slaughter of the Pillars boss (level 37).
  • Complete the Gate of Pale Reflections Quest.
  • Defeat the Fall of the Protector boss (level 42).

Unlocking each Gate requires defeating the Champion designated to it. The Champions are located in different regions, so completing The Heart Of Corruption Quest might take a while. After completing the steps, place the obtained Revenant Essences on the Gate’s roots on Beacon Island. This will clear the Blight and allow players access beyond the roots where they will find other precious rewards guarded by the Revenant Dragon (level 50).

Gate of Deep Sorrows – The Heart Of Corruption Gate In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

To defeat the Gate of Deep Sorrows Champion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players must travel to Treviso and defeat the Desmal, Bloodbound to Elgar’nan (level 25) mini-boss.

Once the Champion is defeated, fast travel to the Converged City in Crossroads and enter behind the Gate of Deep Sorrows’ roots to defeat the Betrayal of Felassan and obtain its Revenant Essence in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The level 32 boss is weak to Necrotic damage and resistant to Cold, so players should have Lucanis, Emmrich, or both on their team for increased damage. Also, the boss will have phases where it will engulf itself in a bubble to try to draw power from the Fade Tear. Break the shield before it successfully draws a massive AoE attack.

Players must unlock Treviso as a traveling destination to locate Desmal, Bloodbound to Elgar’nan.

Gate of Parched Hope – The Heart Of Corruption Gate In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Players can locate the Gate of Parched Hope Champion after completing the Something Wrong in the Wetlands Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Afterward, follow the Quest marker to the Champion’s location, then fast travel to Old Cross Roads in Hossberg Wetlands. Defeat the lurking Darkspawns from the swamp and attack the Blight Cyst to locate The Displie-in-Ichor (level 35).

After defeating the mini-boss, follow the marker to the Gate of Parched Hope location in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Behind the Gates’ roots, players will find the Slaughter of the Pillars. Defeat the level 37 boss who is weak to Necrotic attacks and resistant to Cold damage, then collect the Revenant Essence. During the battle, make sure to reserve the Companions’ Abilities to break through his shield phases when it tries to draw power from the Fade Tear to apply an AoE attack.

Gate of Pale Reflections – The Heart Of Corruption Gate In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Gate of Pale Reflections Champion is also in Hossberg Wetlands, and like the previous Gate, players need to complete the Something Wrong in the Wetlands Quest beforehand. The Blight Cyst will be located in Solitude’s Edge southwestern edge. Defeat the level 35 mini-boss and grab his Essence, then follow the Quest’s marker to the Gate location in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Make sure to grab the Timelost Hoards chest from the Blight Cyst location after defeating Amarell the Unwoven to get a Unique weapon.

Upon entering the Gate of Pale Reflections, players will find a level 42 boss. The Fall of the Protector is vulnerable to Cold and resistant to Fire, so players should use Companions and Rook’s Abilities with Cold attributes to defeat it faster. Just like the previous bosses, this one will also try to shield itself to apply an AoE damage, so players should break the shield. However, unlike the previous two, The Fall of the Protector uses ranged attacks and will occasionally use fog to cancel out Rook’s vision and the ability to use Companions during battle.
