The Game of Thrones Movie Can Fix Season 8

Game of Thrones is still one of the most popular television shows of all time, even though it hasn’t gotten a new episode in five years. Despite the popularity of Game of Thrones, plenty of fans are genuinely angry about how Season 8 went. People are so mad about the way it ended that even the author of the books the show is based on has all but denounced the series finale as not going in the direction he intended.

Season 8 even left a bad taste in the mouths of several actors on the show. But now there’s a way to take a big step towards fixing things. What once was just a rumor is now official. A Game of Thrones movie is in the works. It sounds like rather than being a spinoff or a prequel, the film will be some kind of continuation of where Season 8 left off. That gives the movie a chance to go back and fix some things, even if the way the series ended is now canon.

Fixing The Bran Situation

One of the plot points that truly enraged the most devoted fans of the show was anointing the ruler of Westeros. While there are some things that the Game of Thrones writers did that were very interesting with the character, turning him into a kind of emotionless weirdo was when things really started to go off the rails. Not only wasn’t he likable, but he was never supposed to be. He was supposed to be detached and barely human (or not really human at all anymore) and, therefore, the kind of ruler the kingdom needed.

His lack of emotion and the fact that he didn’t thirst for the crown was sold as the reason that Westeros would become a place of piece and prosperity. But that’s rarely how things actually work out. It’s true that a ruler or president or leader doesn’t need to power hungry in order to be good at their job. The opposite is true most of the time. But a leader should have the ability to understand the people they are leading and there’s no indication he even has a desire to understand the people.

If the people behind the Game of Thrones movie want to fix some of the things that fans are most angry about, then they can make Bran someone who needs to be removed from leadership. They can even make Westeros a place that is suffering greatly because the character is so divorced from reality and from humanity that people are looking for someone to come and save them and save the kingdom in the process. This is where one of the storylines that was left dangling comes into play. There’s a built-in way to ensure Bran is no longer leading the kingdom and does it in a way that most Game of Thrones fans will be more than happy to see come about.

The True King In The North

Jon Snow’s fate in the Game of Thrones finale was one of the most disappointing parts of Season 8. After killing Daenerys Targaryen, Jon is exiled back to the North. He then decides to leave the kingdom altogether with a group of wildlings. The show pitches the idea that he’s leaving Westeros for good. And while it would seem as though he’s turning his back on the people that need him, there is a chance someone who is as good a man as he is could be convinced to return for the good of the people.

There would have to be some finagling to get Jon Snow to return. Maybe one of the Starks would have to talk to him about how dire things are in Westeros. Whatever the way they find a way to do it, having him take the throne of Westeros is the best way to fix everything that went wrong at the end of Season 8. The Game of Thrones movie could even make this quite interesting, considering that Jon was close to Bran back when Bran was … Bran. It would essentially be a battle between two brothers who were never enemies before.

There’s even a chance that this new Game of Thrones movie could finally show a coming together of two people in the Westerosies and the Wildlings. The film could find a way to wrap up these kinds of stories that weren’t done in the series for one reason or another. Jon Snow is one of the most popular characters in the show and that means he’s one of the most popular characters in television. Bran, on the other hand, is one of the least popular. If there’s going to be a GoT movie, it should offer some fan service. The franchise doesn’t have to leave its audience with a bad taste in their mouths.
