Key Takeaways
- Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has unique pre-match interactions, with a standout one showcasing Gohan’s family dynamics.
- Fans will likely continue to hunt for more player-formed teams to trigger various dialogue trees among characters, adding depth and fun to the game.
Players have found a special team interaction in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, which has Gohan talking to Pan, Mr. Satan, and Piccolo before a match. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a game built on the back of the franchise’s extensive history, pulling from several corners of its history and condensing it into one game. Since there are a lot of things that the game pulls from, there are a number of small Easter Eggs and references Sparking Zero likes to throw around like confetti to celebrate the franchise’s 40-year-long history.
These Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Easter Eggs range from classic characters being referenced in idle dialogue to smaller aspects like certain fighters having special attack grab animations depending on who it’s used on, or even references to the live-action Dragonball Evolution movie. The most impressive aspect that fans have praised in the game is the amount of unique character interactions that will play before a match. While previous games in the Budokai Tenkaichi and Raging Blast series did this as well, unique dialogue will play if a character is put on a team together. One of these unique dialogue trees can happen with Gohan’s family specifically.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Survey Hints at Future DLC
A Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero player survey from Bandai Namco could reveal what direction the popular fighting game heads in next.
This clip was posted by IronicnotSavage on Twitter, where he formed a team consisting of Adult Gohan, Videl, GT Pan, Mr. Satan, and Piccolo, wanting to form a fun “gimmick” team from the roster of Sparking Zero. Before the match starts, Gohan quips that the battle is about to begin, only for GT Pan to note that she wanted to go out on a picnic with everyone, but training is also a fun way of spending time. Mr. Satan then says that there’s no reason that they can’t do both, only for Piccolo to ask why he’s being dragged into the fight as well.
Gohan’s Family in Dragon Ball, Explained
Many fans were extremely pleased with this pre-fight dialogue, as it puts the spotlight on Gohan’s family life and shows that they spend time together. Respectively, Videl is Gohan’s wife, Pan is his daughter, Mr. Satan is Gohan’s father-in-law, and Piccolo is Gohan’s mentor/uncle/big brother figure. While Videl doesn’t get a unique line in this dialogue, many fans found it really sweet that a team of Gohan’s family can trigger a unique interaction like this, especially when the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie similarly focused on Piccolo, Gohan, and Pan.
Other teams can trigger similar interactions in Sparking Zero. For example, if a player puts Goku, Goku Black, Turles, and Goku’s father Bardock on a team, Goku will be surprised to see so many other versions of himself, while Bardock is confused about Goku Black and Turles’ similarities to him and his son. While Turles wants nothing to do with the other Saiyans, Goku Black is amused about how many people share Goku’s face. There are likely many more team dialogues that fans have yet to discover in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
