- Sega will delist Sonic Adventure titles in Germany and Italy on December 7, part of the removal of classic games.
- Nearly 70 classic Sega games are being removed from digital stores on various platforms.
- The reasons for delisting are currently unknown.
Sega has suddenly announced that both Sonic Adventure titles will be delisted from the Xbox and Steam platforms in Germany and Italy on December 7. Both Sonic Adventure and its sequel are considered the quintessential Sonic the Hedgehog games and, depending on the fan, possibly the best of the franchise’s 3D titles. While both were originally released on the Sega Dreamcast, they were eventually brought over to other platforms, starting with the Nintendo GameCube, and later the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC via Steam. It appears that the Steam and Xbox 360 versions of the games are going to be delisted in a couple of countries soon.
Sega has recently announced the delisting of various classic titles, stating that it is getting rid of some of its legacy games. This announcement would see nearly 70 games being removed from digital stores on the PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Steam platforms, including titles from the Sega Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast libraries. This move by Sega hasn’t yet been explained, but it appears the Sonic Adventure games are next, albeit only in Germany and Italy for the moment.

This isn’t the first time that Sega has started delisting classic games, as the 2011 original version of Sonic Generations was delisted for purchase from the Xbox and Steam platforms ahead of Sonic X Shadow Generations‘ release. That said, the Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle includes the original Sonic Generations, along with eight other Sonic titles on Steam, including Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and Sonic 3D Blast, which were among the titles that will soon be delisted.
While an official reason for the games’ delisting hasn’t been provided yet, the most commonly speculated answer is that Sega might be planning to resell the older games as part of a larger package in a similar move to the aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog legacy bundle. Nintendo’s recent announcement about expanding upon its Expansion Pack tier, which includes a number of Sega Genesis titles, might also be a reason why these older games got delisted. Fans will just need to wait for more information about these delisted Sonic Adventure and classic Sega games.
