Although there are a lot of PlayStation fans who are constantly baffled by how much stock Sony puts into the Horizon games, it’s impossible to argue the fact that both the first and second games have been massive hits. It didn’t come as much surprise, then, to hear that PlayStation was giving Aloy’s adventures the Lego treatment with the aptly named Lego Horizon Adventures.

As cool as it is to see PlayStation be a little more experimentative and less focused on sad dads this year, it seems that Lego Horizon hasn’t had the strongest start. Reviews from critics (including our own) have painted a picture of an underwhelming adaptation, and it seems that players on Steam tend to agree.
Lego Horizon Adventures Currently Sits At “Mixed” On Steam
Since launching a few days ago on November 14, Lego Horizon Adventures has had a pretty tepid response from PC players. Over on the game’s official Steam page, Lego Horizon currently sits as a “Mixed” review score, which comes from a surprisingly sparse 68 reviews as of the time of writing.
While some of the reviews are positive and note how good the game’s graphics are, even the recommendations note that it’s a “shallow” game that gets repetitive fast. The negative reviews are a bit more brutal about this fact, with Steam users calling out the high price for a 10-12 hour game, the “monotonous” gameplay, and the overall lack of challenge and depth.
These mixed reviews go hand-in-hand with Lego Horizon Adventures’ surprisingly small audience as of the time of writing. According to SteamDB, Adventures has an all-time player peak of just 602 users, which is much less than you’d expect for one of PlayStation’s biggest series. Right now, there are only 292 players, less than half of the all-time peak.
As a PlayStation series, it’s worth noting that Steam was never going to be the biggest audience for Lego Horizon Adventures, as it’s also on PS5 and Nintendo Switch where it’ll likely see more players. Here’s hoping that’s the case so we don’t see PlayStation write-off fun side games and projects like this in the future.
