The Shaman's Path Quest

Players will be able to start “The Shaman’s Path” quest in Horizon Zero Dawnright after completing the “Into the Frozen Wilds” quest. Aloy’s search for Silens will send her to seek a Shaman named Ourea. But to get to her, she must brave the arduous Shaman’s Path filled with dangerous terrain and machines. Let’s break down the complete quest below.

Locate Naltuk & First Control Tower

The first step in meeting Ourea is to find her apprentice, Naltuk. After reaching the marked location, players will find him perched on a ledge looking at the Control Tower. After a brief interaction with him, Aloy sets off to take down the Control Tower, proving her skills to Naltuk.

The Control Towers will heal the machines in its vicinity while also disabling
Aloy’s shield weaver armor protection
. So it’s best to take it out first before clearing out machines in the area.

  1. Head down into the fields and head towards the Control Tower. Avoid machines that are running up to attack you by dodging.
  2. Here, players can disable the Control Tower by either shooting out its yellow-glowing canister on the back or by overriding it.
  3. Once the Control Tower is disabled, it will send out an EMP shockwave disabling all the machines in its vicinity, similar to what happens when you override a Tallneck.
  4. After clearing out the area of machines, head back to Naltuk and he’ll send Aloy on her way to the Shaman’s Path.

Heading up the Shaman’s Path Through the Bluegleam Cave

After getting Naltuk’s blessing, Aloy will have to brave the treacherous Shaman’s path to reach Ourea.

  1. Head on the path to the right of Naltuk and start going up the winding snowy path.
  2. After reaching the top, Aloy will spot the entrance to the Bluegleam cave. Activate the Ritualistic marking at the entrance.
  3. Follow the path led by Ritualistic markings and wind chimes, until you drop into the lair of the Stalkers.
  4. Players can choose to evade the Stalkers by running up to the left side and climbing up to higher ground.
  5. After climbing up, players will be able to exit the cave and continue forward.

Reaching the Second Control Tower & Frostclaw Boss

After surviving the Bluegleam cave, Aloy must cross two water bridges and disable the second Watch Tower, which will lead to a Frostclaw boss fight.

  1. Activate the Ritualistic marking right after exiting the cave and follow the path till you reach a see-saw water bridge.
  2. Wait for the bridge to drain enough water so that the end facing Aloy slowly begins to rise. Climb on top of the bridge to quickly reach the other end and wait for the bridge to rise again. Once it’s high enough, jump to the ledge.
  3. Follow the snowy path ahead to reach the second water bridge. Unlike the previous one, players will have to solve a quick mechanism to activate it.
  4. Interact with the wooden ladder and climb down.
  5. Circle the rock platform until you spot another ladder going up the said platform. Reach the top and activate the water bridge mechanism.
  6. Wait for the Aloy’s end of the bridge to fill up with water. Once it drops, quickly jump onto the bridge and cross the gap before it gets down again.
  7. Now, players follow the path to reach the second Watch Tower and encounter a Frostclaw guarding the tower.
  8. The goal is to either destroy or override the Watch Tower, first to disable the machine’s healing.
  9. After disabling the Watch Tower, players can flee from the fight towards the marked location and climb up to safety. Or, they can choose to face off against the Frostclaw.
  10. For players who want to face off against the Frostclaw, use Focus to scan its weak points. After that, target them with precision arrows to inflict frost status on the machine. This will make Frostclaw vulnerable to increased damage and allow you to finish it off easily.
