What to Expect from Go for It, Nakamura!
The story revolves around Nakamura, a shy, closeted gay teenager who falls in love with one of his classmates, Hirose. They have never spoken to each other, and Nakamura, at the same time, imagines many ways to get closer to him. His clumsy personality usually makes all his attempts fail, but they do start to develop a friendship.
Go for It, Nakamura! is a comedy and heartwarming high school romance story that has already hit readers in and out of the boys’ love fandom. Considering the team involved in the anime adaptation, it is possible this one will be one of the season hits when it debuts next year, just as Given was also able to attract fans outside the fandom. Aoi Umeki has already proved with Pop Team Epic that he can deliver a lot with few resources. So, despite the resistance some might have with boys’ love, this is a show to keep an eye on because it could be one of the best anime comedies next year.
Where to Find the Original Manga
Originally released as a One-Shot in the 2014 boys-love anthology Opera, the manga later turned into a series and ran for 11 chapters, from 2015 to 2017. It was compiled into one single volume. A sequel, Go For It Again, Nakamura!, was serialized from 2017 to 2021, and compiled into two volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment published the manga and its sequel in English.
The story is penned by Syundei, whose art style might remind some people of Rumiko Takahashi’s art, but they are unrelated.
Crunchyroll has already confirmed it will stream
Go for It, Nakamura!
in 2025. No release date has been announced.
