That meme got a boost in popularity as a result of Fortnite adding “Kicks” to the free-to-play live-service battle royale. Because these kicks can be equipped on any character, fans quickly decked out Cell in some Jordan’s, helping bring back one of the best crossover memes ever.
Naturally, fans immediately had a ball with the concept of Cell in Jordan’s, with many adding to the legend of NBA player Perfect Cell.

For the uninitiated and/or confused, NBA Perfect Cell first debuted in 2020 via a modded version of NBA 2K20. That mod had multiple fictional characters playing basketball, though none more iconic than Perfect Cell on the Orlando Magic.
The creators behind the meme let it play out, even taking their creation into full NBA seasons. At one point, Cell even participated in the NBA’s Dunk Contest. For a creature made up of the DNA of other beings, Cell certainly has some skills.
It’s the exact kind of absurd hilarity that the Internet has become known for over the years. And so long as Fortnite’s kicks remain a thing, NBA player Perfect Cell will continue to live on.
