The Rise of the Golden Idol continues the story that began with The Case of the Golden Idol, although the sequel was designed to be a stand-alone adventure that players can enjoy without experiencing the original title. The point-and-click, drag-and-drop gameplay remains the same, with players collecting lists of words and determining their correct placement in a variety of texts, notes, and stories.

Chapter Two
The Pursuit

Chapter 2 consists of four sections. This is one more than Chapter 1, which only had three. Some characters and personalities introduced in the prologue and Chapter 1 reappear, so don’t hesitate to check those old lists again for clues.
Remember that each section has an individual word list that players can check at any time using the “Words” icon at the bottom of the screen.

Overview
This puzzle is more easily solved last, but it’s short and fairly easy to figure out what happened even without finding all the words. Take note of the phase of the moon outside and the calendar dates.
The completed text is;
The events that took place at the Harmony Foundation on August 17, 1974, resulted in someone’s death.
Events
There’s already a text saying that a murder took place, or the player has already determined that this mysterious lady is burying someone in her Zen Garden. The completed events text is;
‘Colleague’ visited ‘Historian’ to exchange an artifact for money.
During the meeting, ‘Colleague’ suddenly tried to rob ‘Historian’.
In response, ‘Historian’ sprayed ‘Colleague’ with hair spray and then pulled a rug.
As a result, ‘Colleague’ fell and hit a rock.
There are two categories at the bottom of the screen called “Corkboard” and “Story” that can’t be completed yet. These currently include a lot of blank and blacked-out spaces that will gradually be revealed as the player works through the chapters.

There are two sections to explore here, like the first section. First, players explore the inside of the prison and collect information about the inmates, and their discoveries will also include some data about the employees.
Cells
From the outside view, it’s easy to tell which cell is empty, and this is the “mystery” person. The prisoners outside have a few things to say about their cellmates and the guards, which gives away both their cells and their names.

There’s a lot to take in at the auction house, where there are all kinds of shenanigans that happen when the lights are out. Not only does the player have to sleuth their way through two screens, but each of those screens has a daytime and a nighttime version. Players can change this back and forth using the clock faces on the upper right.
