Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Directed Mode Explained

Black Ops 6 Zombies' Directed Mode Explained

The recently launched first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been quite a success for Treyarch, with the anticipated update introducing a wide range of fresh experiences, mechanics, and customization options to the game across its multiplayer and Zombies modes. While a lot of the major additions to Zombies are set to arrive later on in the season, many eye-catching new features have already been introduced to the survival experience.

One of the most important recent changes to Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the arrival of Directed Mode, with this unique gameplay approach being available across both Liberty Falls and Terminus, the two launch maps for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Directed Mode offers a much more casual experience for players who want to tackle the major Easter eggs of Liberty Falls and Terminus in a streamlined manner and at their own pace, coming with their own range of positives and negatives. While Easter eggs are the main purpose of this new Directed Mode, an additional utility is being found in relation to the weapon progression of Black Ops 6 Zombies, meaning players of all approaches should check the mode out before the rest of season one’s Zombies content drops over the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Directed Mode Has Something to Offer All Players

Fans have been expecting the launch of a Directed Mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies ever since the title launched back in October, with season one finally introducing the mode and giving players a solid idea of what it entails. As the name suggests, Zombies’ Directed Mode offers a unique experience for either Liberty Falls or Terminus with the purpose of guiding players on how to complete each map’s major Easter egg quest, with objective markers and descriptions directing the player through each step.

Directed Mode even comes with a round cap for each step, allowing players to collect points and move between parts of the Easter egg without advancing to higher rounds and the increased difficulty and enemy frequency that they entail. This culminates in a much more casual and chilled-out experience for what can otherwise be stressful and confusing gameplay, with Directed Mode being the perfect way for some players to finally engage with Easter eggs who may otherwise be uninterested in this aspect of the CoD Zombies experience.

Of course, other fans are still freely able to complete the Easter eggs through standard gameplay, with the difference in difficulty being reflected in the Easter egg completion rewards that are available to players. Fans who complete the Easter egg for both Liberty Falls and Terminus without Directed Mode receive a more detailed animated calling card, with an even more exclusive calling card being available to players who achieved this feat before Directed Mode was added to both maps. On the other hand, completion of either Easter egg through Directed Mode grants players a much more basic calling card, being reflective of the reduced difficulty of Directed Mode.

Easter Eggs and Camo Grinds Have Been Shaken Up with Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Directed Mode

This same reward process will be repeated for Citadelle des Morts, the upcoming new map to Black Ops 6 Zombies, with it likely being weeks after this fresh map is released before its own Directed Mode is launched and spills the beans on its major Easter egg quest. Aside from the more relaxed nature of Directed Mode, the round cap that the mode possesses for certain steps has proven to be the perfect way for players to expedite the otherwise lengthy and tedious weapon camo and challenges grind for Black Ops 6 Zombies.

With the Directed Mode experience capping certain Easter egg steps at low rounds, players can infinitely farm the same round of low-difficulty and easy-to-kill zombies over and over again, with certain steps even allowing for special zombies like Manglers to spawn every single round. This has been revolutionary in terms of speeding up how quickly players can unlock all the camouflage options for weapons and approach certain in-game challenges, offering another aspect to Black Ops 6‘s Directed Mode that goes beyond its standard purpose of offering a more relaxed approach to Zombies Easter eggs.
