Key Takeaways
- Mods for Resident Evil Village can make the game hilarious and entertaining with switch-ups in character models and weapons.
- Fans can play as Lady Dimitrescu, replace Baby Rose’s face with Chris Redfield’s, or even turn Lady Dimitrescu into Thomas the Tank Engine.
- Modding enhances replay value by adding absurdity like fighting monsters with a banana gun or exaggerating character facial expressions.
Resident Evil Village took the franchise to new heights with some of the best environmental design and motion capture performances of any Resident Evil title to date. Ethan Winters’ journey through Romania is certainly worth a rerun or two, but even though Resident Evil Village tells the story of a man’s relentless search for his infant daughter, it doesn’t always need to take itself so seriously. In fact, the modding community feels that Resident Evil Village has the makings of a comedy horror, especially when some of the character models and weapons get a makeover.

Resident Evil Village: 8 Creepiest Characters, Ranked
Fans undoubtedly remember these nightmare-inducing villains from Resident Evil Village.
Mods for Resident Evil Village have rewarded multiple playthroughs by switching up the experience to be both hilarious and thoroughly entertaining, so Ethan’s confrontations with Lady Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, and the rest of the village’s inhabitants are never dull. Many mods enhance the game in practical ways, such as overhauling the lighting, the graphics, and the scenery, but Resident Evil Village has a mixed bag of mods to appeal to anyone. Here are the best mods for Resident Evil Village to increase the game’s replay value.
1 Play As Lady Dimitrescu / Cassandra Dimitrescu
Switches Out Ethan With Lady Dimitrescu Or Cassandra Dimitrescu
When Resident Evil Village was first released, Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters — Cassandra, Bela, and Daniela — became instant fan favorites. In particular, Maggie Robertson’s Lady D stole the spotlight as the game’s pursuer enemy, just like Nemesis and Mr. X in Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 2, respectively.
Since the Castle Dimitrescu portion of Village is relatively short, fans were left wanting more of Lady Dimitrescu and her kin, so one modder made it possible to switch out Ethan for Lady D or Cassandra, depending on a player’s preference for their protagonist. Lady D isn’t nine feet tall, unfortunately, but it’s certainly amusing to see her solving puzzles in her castle while running from…herself.
2 Mini Me Chris
Replaces Baby Rose’s Face With Chris Redfield’s
Mini Me Chris is a deceptive title for a mod that gives the impression of a pocket-sized Chris Redfield, perhaps one that Ethan Winters brings along on his adventures. But no, Mini Me Chris isn’t a pint-sized pal at all. Instead, the mod swaps out baby Rose’s face for Chris Redfield’s, and the results are horrifying — true nightmare fuel.
That means any time Rose is seen, whether she’s being held by Ethan or about to be used in a ritual by Mother Miranda, she’ll have Chris’ face — beard and all — and it’s really hard to take anything else seriously after that. In the opening scene, Chris Redfield will be holding a miniature version of himself, like Dr. Evil and Mini Me from the Austin Powers movies, and that’s just too much!
3 Count Theodora
Replaces Lady Dimitrescu’s Face With Thomas The Tank Engine
Count Theodora sounds far too regal to be a mashup of Resident Evil Village and Thomas the Tank Engine. This anthropomorphic train originated in the United Kingdom, where an author called Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher co-wrote a series of novels called The Railway Series, which featured Thomas as the main character.

Resident Evil Village: 9 Things That Are Far Scarier In VR
Resident Evil Village can be played on the PS VR2, making Capcom’s horror game a scarier experience.
No one ever could have predicted that Thomas the Tank Engine would see a surge in popularity thanks to a modder’s dedication to replacing Lady Dimitrescu’s face with Thomas’. It’s still hard to determine whether the mod makes Lady D more or less terrifying, but regardless, it’s a mod that won’t soon be forgotten.
4 Banana Gun And Spoon Knife
Replaces Ethan’s Gun And Knife With A Banana And A Spoon
For players who find themselves in need of a splash of color in Ethan’s inventory, there’s always the option to take on the village’s various monsters with either a banana gun or a metal spoon — or both — if regular weapons just aren’t cutting it.
This mod originally appeared in the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes and the author decided to bring it back for Resident Evil Village just so everyone could see how ridiculous it would be to shoot Lady Dimitrescu in the face with a peeled banana. There’s no real point to this mod besides the absurdity of it all, but really, harmless fun like this doesn’t need any rhyme or reason.
5 400% Facial Expressions
Exaggerates Character’s Facial Movements x4
With 400% Facial Expressions installed, every smile, laugh, and sneer is exaggerated to a comical degree. That means Lady Dimitrescu will be grinning from ear to ear like the Joker, the Duke’s teeth and gums will take up half of his face (a haunting vision, rest assured), and Mordeau will somehow look even uglier.
This mod strips away the game’s seriousness and makes it purely laughable for anyone looking to cheer themselves up after a long day or simply look at Resident Evil Village in a new light. Either way, one thing is guaranteed: plenty of wheezing laughter.
6 Maggie’s Game Award Dress
Allows Lady Dimitrescu To Wear Maggie Robertson’s Outfit From The 2021 Game Awards
Lady Dimitrescu’s voice and motion capture actress, Maggie Robertson, walked into the 2021 Game Awards wearing a sparkly black bodycon with long sleeves and a plunging neckline and walked away as the proud recipient of the Best Performance award. To commemorate Maggie’s amazing win, one modder recreated her stunning garment in Resident Evil Village, allowing Maggie’s character to wear it as she pursues Ethan through Castle Dimitrescu.

Resident Evil Village: 15 Crazy Facts You Never Knew About Ethan Winters
First seen in Resident Evil 7, Ethan Winters is now a protagonist of the Resident Evil franchise. Even still, we know very little about this new face.
There are a lot of mods out there that give Lady Dimitrescu some captivating outfits, such as the Lady Wong mod, which remodels her after Ada Wong. But given how Lady Dimitrescu was Robertson’s first-ever VA role for a video game, this mod feels particularly special.
7 Deal With It Duke
Gives Duke The “Deal With It” Meme Shades
The “Deal With It” meme — complete with the iconic text and pixel glasses — was first popularized in 2010 on the image-sharing site Dump.fm, but just like many other internet idioms and catchphrases, it never quite died out.
In Resident Evil Village, it’s possible to install a mod that gives the Duke the “Deal With It” glasses as a permanent addition to his wardrobe whenever Ethan sees him, whether it’s on his merchant cart or inside Castle Dimitrescu. Even when he’s smoking a cigar or reading a book, he’ll be sporting those Albert Wesker-esque glasses with a hint of hilarity. Leave it to the Resident Evil community to keep the memes alive.
8 Shirtless Chris Redfield
Inputs A Shirtless Model For Chris Redfield
An argument can be made for the most attractive Resident Evil characters based on one’s personal preference, but many members of the franchise’s community can unanimously agree on Chris Redfield, who only seems to have aged like fine wine over the course of the Resident Evil timeline as it stands.
Now that Chris is officially entering his Silver Fox era, everyone is barking up his tree more than ever, so it shouldn’t be surprising that a shirtless Chris Redfield mod was made eventually. Capcom gave fans a taste of a shirtless Chris with his Resident Evil 5 Warrior skin, but one modder took it a step further by removing all the extra armor and accessories and giving players something to truly gawk at.
