And it’s a logical move as well – not starting by releasing the middle or final game of a trilogy or anything like that.
It’s great to see Guts continuing to expand their fanbase. The Atelier series has been around for literally decades but was buried on PlayStation for most of that time. Things improved for fans and the developer once they started porting the games to PC in 2017, though those initial efforts were lacking, to say the least. The real payoff came with the Ryza trilogy, thanks to better ports, Nintendo Switch support, and of course, the protagonist’ appeal.
I don’t expect the same level of boost that Ryza enjoyed, but given that the franchise took decades to find its audience on its original platform, hopefully, Xbox can add a few tens of thousands of fans as well.
