An artistic Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has captured the essence of the villagers that occupy their island by drawing all of them as humans. Players can recruit up to 10 villagers at a time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and after drawing their full collection of villagers, this artist doesn’t plan to stop there.
There are more than 400 different villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the ones added in the 2.0 update, and that’s not even accounting for the residents who appear on every player’s island, like the Nook family and Isabelle. The sheer number of villagers who can potentially set down roots in a player’s game makes for nearly endless combinations, guaranteeing that nearly every player’s island will feel different based on its selection of residents.

One fan of the game has taken the traits that make their 10 villagers special and incorporated those quirks into much more human-like drawings. Reddit user jen_noodlez’s island villagers consist of rabbits Coco and Snake, Poppy the squirrel, Rosie the cat, Merengue the Rhinoceros, Melba the Koala, Marty the bear cub, and three of New Horizons‘ wolf villagers: Freya, Whitney, and Fang. To craft their human versions, this artist included the villagers’ prominent physical traits, incorporating each villager’s color scheme from both their fur and clothing into each character’s outfit. They also picked out some special details, like the dessert-themed Merengue’s human version holding a strawberry-topped cake that matches her rhino head design, and Snake’s dark blue ninja jumpsuit making the jump from rabbit to human versions.
Artist Draws Their Animal Crossing: New Horizons Villagers as Humans
There are some other design choices in the drawings that seem to be based on personality and the eight villager types in Animal Crossing New Horizons. While most of the villagers are drawn with some sort of smiling expression, Cranky-type wolf Fang stands off to the far right, with arms crossed and a taciturn expression on his face. At the far left, haniwa-inspired Coco doesn’t retain her rabbit form’s empty eye sockets, but her more pensive expression and sheepish posture reflect her Normal typing. Following the success of the original image, the artist plans to make even more human Animal Crossing variants, including special characters like Blathers.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to house a dedicated player base more than three years since its last major update, with no more updates on the way. With the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp set for November 28, fans of the series can look forward to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete making its offline mobile game debut on December 3, bringing with it more than 10,000 in-game items, a new area, and updates lasting at least through September 2025.
