Brighter Shores, the newest game from Runescape creator Andrew Gower, is a vibrant MMORPG with a plethora of unique professions for players to train and master. From familiar staples like Chef and Alchemy, to unique additions to the genre such as Bonewright or Detective, Brighter Shores promises to have something for everyone.
While players are free to prioritize whichever professions they wish, quests will often require a combination of several different professions to complete, rewarding those who keep a healthy balance between multiple professions at once. The Spider’s Nest is one such quest, requiring a combination of Carpenter, Woodcutter, and Scout levels to see through to the end, granting those able to complete it with thousands of Carpenter and Scout experience, as well as access to the highly desired Storage Rift spell and dye system.

Starting The Spider’s Nest Quest Guide
The Spider’s Nest can be started as soon as players enter Hopeforest in Episode 2 by speaking to Toblaine at the Cliffside Path on the southwest side of Hopeforest. Shimmying across a gap in the cliffside will cause the nearby Titan Spider to knock players off and attract the attention of Allanor, who tasks players with obtaining a Tar Rat to distract the spider.
Heading south and west from the Cliffside Path will take players to the Small Clearing, where Hamish Truefire offers to trade a Tar Rat for an Anti-Acid Shield, requiring a Snake Eyeball, Golden Marrow, and two Uncoated Anti-Acid Shields. Each required item is obtained separately, with some being significantly more difficult to collect than others.
Where to Get Snake Eyeballs
The easiest of the three required items, Snake Eyeballs is a quest item drop from Common Vipers located in northeast Hopeforest, inside the Snakes Clearing and Snakes Path. Common Vipers are only level 8, making them easy targets even for players just getting started in Episode 2. However, they deal with and are immune to Tempestae damage, requiring players to pay attention to the elements of their weapon and swap accordingly.
Where to Get the Golden Marrow
The second-most difficult item to obtain, the Golden Marrow can be found in Mr. McGrish’s Garden on the west side of Timberwell, but requires players to go on a short fetch-quest to harvest. Asking Mr. McGrish to enter his garden will inform players that they require a Vegetable Judge Badge, which can be obtained by speaking to Kedwick Shalstanger who can be found north of Timberwell in the Huntsman’s Clearing. Ask if he is on the fruit and vegetable committee, then to borrow his committee badge, offering to demonstrate your hunting prowess to prove your worth. Kedwick will task players with slaying a Spriggan for a Spriggan Claw, which can be done by traveling to the Treeway Junction or Treeway Trail in the northeast corner of Hopeforest.
After obtaining the Vegetable Judge Badge, players will additionally need to collect a Replacement Marrow found in Timberwell Green, as well as Gold Paint, found in Timberwell Side Road just outside of Mr. McGrish’s Garden. Combining the Replacement Marrow with the Gold Paint will create a Painted Marrow. Presenting the Vegetable Judge Badge to Mr. McGrish will allow players to enter his garden, while replacing the Golden Marrow with the Painted Marrow will allow players to steal the item without suspicion.
Where to Get Uncoated Anti-Acid Shields
Uncoated Anti-Acid Shields can be crafted by players of at least Carpenter level 32 using a single Rugged Ash Plank. As completing The Spider’s Nest also requires a Woodcutter level of 20, the best way to achieve the necessary levels is to progress Woodcutter and Carpenter at the same time until level 22, as the wooden materials obtained by Woodcutters are used by Carpenters to craft items that can be sold to NPCs in Hopeforest. The money obtained from this process can then be used to purchase materials from Gwen in Timberwell rather than gathering them manually. From Carpenter level 22, players can purchase Rugged Pine Logs to craft Rugged Pine Poles all the way until level 30, where players can begin purchasing Rugged Hickory Logs to craft Rugged Hickory Poles instead. Any items crafted during this process can be resold to the Timber Merchant within the Carpenter’s Workshop to offset the cost of materials.
After obtaining all the required items, the Anti-Acid Shield can be created by returning to the Small Clearing and placing the Snake’s Eyeball and Golden Marrow in the cauldron, before pouring the mixture onto the Uncoated Anti-Acid Shields. Talking to Hamish again will take players safely through the Acidic Avenue to the Pool of Rainbows. There, players will find Marcus Mint, who will teach them how to use the Strange Stones around the world to access their storage with the Rift Storage spell. The Pool of Rainbows can also be gathered by using buckets and collecting Rainbow Water which can be given to Iridiana off the Timberwell Side Road to dye player items.
Returning through the Acidic Avenue, players can finally take a Tar Rat from the campfire and return to the Cliffside Path. Placing the Tar Rat atop the Big Flat Boulder on the west-side of the map will lure the Titan Spider away from the cliffside. Players will then need to use a pair of Tree Loppers on the nearby Sticky Vines to trap the spider and allow them to safely cross the cliff gap. Tree Loppers can be purchased from Morauce the Hatchet man in Timberwell Green for 72 silver after reaching Woodcutter level 20.
After crossing the gap, players will have to complete the final task of defeating two level 35 Baby Titan Spiders who deal with and are immune to cryonae damage. Players will want to review their weapons and armor beforehand, as well as equip helpful potions like 20% healing potions and appropriate strength potions to improve their chances at success. Those that are able to triumph and free Toblaine from the spiders will be rewarded with 28,500 Scout experience and 26,900 Carpenter experience.
