Every update, many Honkai: Star Rail fans look forward to 5-star rerun banners, just as much as the new characters. This is especially exciting for those who are either looking to pull for specific characters for the first time or want to raise the Eidolon levels of their existing units. But because of Honkai: Star Rail‘s growing pool, some older 5-star characters take a while to return.
One 5-star character that hasn’t had a rerun banner in a while is Seele. The Quantum-type Hunt character was Honkai: Star Rail‘s very first 5-star character, and also the most popular in terms of revenue, according to HonkaiLab. Seele was also the first character to re-run all the way back in Version 1.4, and it has been a year since the banner ended.

Honkai: Star Rail is Due For Another Seele Rerun
- Seele’s rerun banner in Version 1.4: Started on October 27, 2023, and ended on November 14, 2023
Since Honkai: Star Rail launched over a year ago, many team compositions have prioritized Seele because of her strong attacks and follow-up attacks. She’s especially good in all-Quantum teams, which was meta in a number of Memory of Chaos rounds for a while. This is why many fans looked forward to pulling for Seele when she had her rerun, because they wanted a strong DPS in their team and to make their existing Seele stronger. Until now, they still hope that Seele will finally have another rerun, but Honkai: Star Rail hasn’t made it happen yet.
Therefore, it’s surprising that Seele has only had one rerun so far, especially since she has consistently been the top 5-star Honkai: Star Rail character in terms of revenue for over a year. This is likely because many Honkai: Star Rail players willingly splurged when the game launched, so they could immediately get the limited 5-star unit, and even Seele’s rerun banner last year saw some success. Since then, no other character has come close to surpassing Seele’s record, and if HoYoverse were to do a second rerun for her, it might still rake in money.
HonkaiLab’s revenue chart only covers China’s iOS market, but it’s a reliable report considering that the country has one of the biggest HoYoverse
playerbases.
Recently, Honkai: Star Rail‘s rerun banners have featured newer characters, such as Acheron and Aventurine. Meanwhile, older Honkai: Star Rail characters like Kafka and, allegedly, Jing Yuan already have multiple reruns, which means that Seele is definitely due for another rerun in the near future. At the same time, going by the pattern of previous banners, it’s likely that Honkai: Star Rail is just waiting for the perfect time to bring Seele back alongside a new support character or another damage dealer that synergizes well with her.
Stronger DPS Characters and Powercreep in Honkai: Star Rail May Explain Seele’s Absence
Honkai: Star Rail has released some really strong DPS characters, like Firefly and Feixiao, who could easily trump Seele in combat. It’s especially rare to see Seele in certain teams now because of the game’s Break Effect meta in the main game, Memory of Chaos, and other combat missions. She can still be used to deal significant damage to enemies with Quantum weaknesses, but some players can certainly feel the powercreep possibly affecting her pick rate.
Likewise, this could be the reason why Honkai: Star Rail might be holding off on another Seele rerun for this long. The downside is that HoYoverse might be neglecting its most popular 5-star unit. But on the bright side, other 5-star characters will get a chance to shine in upcoming updates, pushing Honkai: Star Rail forward as players discover more unique teams.
