Dragon Quest 3 Remake will have players fighting hundreds of monsters through random encounters, even if you know how to try and avoid them. Taking damage as you progress through a dungeon or explore the overworld is practically a given, so healing will need to be at the top of your list of things to stay on top of.

While you can try to use items to heal or use spells yourself, you’re also given the option of using Heal All or Handy Heal All in the menu. While both will restore your party’s HP, what is the difference between these two options?

What’s The Difference Between Heal All & Handy Heal All In Dragon Quest 3 Remake?

Both Heal All and Handy Heal All will use spells from your current party to restore HP, and won’t use items from anyone’s inventory. The main difference is that Handy Heal All will be smarter with who is casting what spells to limit more so the amount of MP used. Heal All will select a party member with a heal spell, and have them cast it as many times as necessary until your party is at full health.

Handy Heal All will take into account how much health is left, if other party members have stronger healing spells, and will often split up the work between party members to stop just one party member from getting drained of MP. Towards the beginning of the game, there won’t be any noticeable difference between these two options as anyone with healing magic will only have the basic healing spell. Handy Heal All will also take into account your party members’ max HP, and will usually use a Priest’s MP first since they have a large MP pool, depending on their Personality.

The Hero's List Of Spells Outside Of Combat

Since you have access to both options right at the start of the game, you should always use Handy Heal All. The differences will continue to become more clear throughout the game, so it’s best to just get into the habit of always using Handy Heal All, especially since there are two places to use it in the menus.

  • In the main menu, the Handy Heal All button will appear at the bottom left of the screen.
  • In the stats menu, Handy Heal All is the second option.

Both options are based on the healing spells the party has access to, so it’s best to have the Priest Vocation to have a lot of spells for Handy Heal All to choose from.
