A brand-new Skyrim mod has been released after taking its dedicated creator nearly seven years to create. Described by its creator as “the size of a small DLC,” this Skyrim mod is sure to offer more fresh experiences in Bethesda’s RPG.
It has now been over 13 years since the release of Skyrim. While Bethesda’s official support for the game is largely complete (barring small updates here and there), the modding community has done an incredible job adding new content to Bethesda’s RPG. There’s always something new to explore via Skyrim mods, and some even make sweeping changes to the base game to make it feel as though it could have been released in the current generation. Few (if any) games have Skyrim‘s level of modding support, and due to technological advances over the years, the level of quality is only getting higher. There’s certainly no sign of the Skyrim modding community slowing down any time soon.

New Skyrim Content Lets You Wield Mjolnir
New content released for Skyrim allows players to wield Mjolnir, the mythical hammer from Norse mythology, and ‘become the God of Thunder.’
This new Skyrim mod is titled Olenveld, and can be found on Nexus Mods from user F0RCEFI3LD. According to the creator, this epic mod “introduces a unique questline and an island recapturing system,” while offering an experience “the size of a small DLC.” It’s lore-friendly, too – Olenveld is mentioned in the Skyrim book “The Exodus,” with F0RCEFI3LD taking it upon themselves to bring the island to life. It took them around 3,000 hours of work in the Creation Kit to complete Olenveld, spread across nearly seven years as a “passionate hobby project.” They’ll be updating it further, too, as they look to iron out the mod’s remaining bugs.
Skyrim Olenveld Mod Took Nearly Seven Years to Make
It’s great to see this mod come to fruition after all this time. Over the years, many new land mods have proven controversial. Plenty are announced at an early stage, before being canceled due to the scale of the task at hand. Some Skyrim new area mods like Falskaar (and now Olenveld) are eventually released, but they’re the exception, not the rule.
While Skyrim‘s modding community remains as dedicated as ever, the wait goes on for more news about the next game in the series. The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced with a trailer back in 2018, but Bethesda has very rarely commented on the title in the years since. Earlier this year, a Bethesda developer accidentally hinted at The Elder Scrolls 6‘s setting through a public Pinterest board, but even that doesn’t pass as official news about the game. Hopefully, 2025 will be the year the studio is ready to speak more on the project, but that is pure speculation.
