Key Takeaways
- Ororon has unique abilities for exploration and damaging enemies with Electro effects.
- Ororon’s Nightshade Synesthesia skill makes him valuable on various team compositions.
Genshin Impact has revealed an official overview of Ororon, the upcoming 4-Star Electro character slated to come out in the first half of Version 5.2. While Chasca is intended to be the star of Version 5.2, Genshin Impact players have been rather excited about Ororon since his debut in Version 5.1. Hailing from the Masters of the Night-Wind, Ororon left a strong impression on fans during the Archon Quest. Not only will Version 5.2 take players to Ororon’s tribe in Western Natlan, but Ororon himself will play a major role during the Flagship Event of the patch.
Most notably, Ororon will be released as a playable character alongside Chasca in Genshin Impact, featuring in her Event Banner as a 4-Star Electro Bow. What separates him from other Electro Supports is that Ororon’s damage is optimized for the Electro-Charged reaction in particular. His Elemental Skill is not unlike that of Baizhu, bouncing between several foes, while his Elemental Burst summons a totem that draws aggro and deals continuous Electro damage.

Genshin Impact publishes an overview of the four new weapons coming in Version 5.2, and some of them offer powerful bonuses for certain teams.
Dubbed as the Shadow of the Night-Wind, Ororon in Genshin Impact is intended to provide the exploration abilities of an Iktomisaurus. This will allow him to interact with Nightspirit Graffiti and Nightspirit Sigils, allowing the player to solve the new puzzles in Version 5.2 without having to rely on assuming an Iktomisaurus form. Furthermore, switching to Ororon while gliding will allow players to jump up in Natlan areas. This leap can also be triggered on the ground, after which Ororon is able to aim with his bow while being airborne. The full details of his ability kit were revealed by HoYoverse in a recent blog post.

- Within 15s after using his Elemental Skill, when other party members’ Hydro or Electro attacks hit opponents, Ororon will gain 5 Nightsoul points, an effect that can occur every 0.3s for a maximum of 10 times during this 15s duration.
- Ororon can have a maximum of 80 Nightsoul points.
- When nearby opponents take Electro-Charged reaction DMG or Nightsoul-aligned DMG dealt by other nearby characters, Ororon will consume 10 Nightsoul points, entering the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and triggering the Hypersense effect.
- Deal Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG based on 160% of Ororon’s ATK to at most 4 nearby opponents. Hypersense can trigger once every 1.8s.
As an off-field Electro Bow, players are quick to compare Ororon with Fischl – arguably for a good reason, as both fulfill the same role as characters. However, there are certain quirks to Ororon that make him preferable in certain Genshin Impact teams, and the key among them is Nightshade Synesthesia. Nightshade Synesthesia allows Ororon to accumulate Nightsoul points for every instance of Electro or Hydro damage dealt by other party members. He spends Nightsoul points when the Electro-Charged reaction is triggered, dealing bonus Electro damage that scales off his ATK.
Nightshade Synesthesia makes Ororon extremely valuable to Neuvillette when running with Kazuha and Xilonen, but he can also contribute significantly to teams carried by Mualani, Ayato, or Tartaglia. While it remains to be seen if he will elevate the Electro-Charged reaction to the same degree that Overload was elevated by Chevreuse, he is expected to draw plenty of attention as a 4-Star character in Genshin Impact. Players will be able to pull for Ororon during the first half of Version 5.2, which is scheduled for launch on November 20, 2024.
