Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1’s Allied Society Is A Massive Reference To FF10

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1 has added a bunch of cool new things to dive into. You can now try your hand at the new Alliance Raid series (which is beating the snot out of players right now), experience the twists and turns of the MSQ, or meet with a friendly Pelupelu trader to establish the Turali Travel Agency, which is Dawntrail’s combat Allied Society quest series.

It’s a pretty great way to grab yourself a bunch of experience and level your jobs to 100, but fans of Final Fantasy 10 may find the entire quest series eerily familiar. For starters, it involves the Pelupelu, which is actually a race first introduced in Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2, but the references don’t stop there. If you make your way to the main building of Dock Poga after setting things up, you should notice that it has a very familiar layout.

Final Fantasy 14’s Turali Travel Agency Is Identical To Rin’s Travel Agency

First shared by Twitter user KyrenXIV, this little travel agency that we’ve helped set up in Final Fantasy 14 is laid out almost identically to the Rin Travel Agency, which you can find on the Mi’ihen Highroad in Final Fantasy 10. In the side-by side shared by KyrenXIV, you can see that the front desk is the same strange shape, there’s a central pillar supporting the buildings, and the floor plan is almost identical too.

The only massive difference is that the Turali Travel Agency is a little less modernized than the Rin Travel Agency, but that’s to be expected when it was built by a bunch of bird people. If you’re still not convinced that this Allied Society is just a massive Final Fantasy 10 reference in disguise, another Twitter user points out that the music while you’re in the Allied Society area is also very similar to the music that plays in the Rin Travel Agency.

Of course, we should be expecting references to other games from Final Fantasy 14, given that the entire latter half of the Dawntrail expansion is heavily inspired by Final Fantasy 9. It took so much inspiration that director Yoshi-P was asked whether it was a hint that he could be working on the heavily rumored Final Fantasy 9 remake, though he quickly shot down that idea. It must be because he’s clearly working on a Final Fantasy 10 remake, right?

Square Enix’s popular MMO, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, has players step into the role of the Warrior of Light in the world of Eorzea. There, they find themselves testing their mettle against Primals, the Garlean Empire, the Ascians, and plenty of other threats.

This award-winning MMO now has multiple expansions to its name, with the most recent Endwalker expansion bringing the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc to a close. Director and producer Yoshi-P has promised lots of plans for future content and the game has regular updates to keep players occupied.
