Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players are furious with Treyarch and Activision, as with BO6 Season 1 they were given access to all their legacy XP tokens, only for the developers to swiftly take them away again. Suddenly being able to use all your XP tokens from across every Call of Duty game in Black Ops 6 was a welcome surprise, but as swiftly as this bonus was given, it’s been removed. That said, there does appear to be a workaround, but there’s no telling how long it might last.
Now that Black Ops 6 Season 1 is here, XP tokens are more valuable than ever. You’ve got new weapons, equipment, skins, and more to grind for in the battle pass, and double battle pass XP tokens are a huge boon to those efforts. When the multiplayer game’s new season started, everyone noticed that legacy XP tokens (which you earn and hold on to from games like Warzone and Modern Warfare 3) were available in Black Ops 6. Players thought this was a nice bonus, but it was short-lived.
As quickly as these legacy XP tokens appeared in the UI, Treyarch and Activision took them away. You can no longer redeem legacy XP tokens inside of Black Ops 6 itself, meaning that the battle pass grind is about to get much harder than you thought. “Fixed an issue that incorrectly allowed legacy XP tokens to be activated in the Black Ops 6 UI,” Treyarch writes in new patch notes from Friday November 15.
Not all is lost, however, as you might still be able to use a workaround to activate these legacy XP tokens in Black Ops 6. Players across the internet are reporting that you can simply load up Warzone on the CoD HQ to activate the XP tokens in that game instead, and then go into Black Ops 6 and reap the rewards. So by the looks of things, you can still actually use these tokens inside of BO6, but you just need to go around the houses to do it.
That said, I’m also reading reports from players claiming that the method of going into Warzone to claim XP tokens to use in BO6 isn’t working for them, so I’d jump in and activate any outstanding tokens as soon as possible to be safe.
Elsewhere in the game, the Black Ops 6 version of the Nuketown mannequin easter egg has taken on an entirely new form. This time, shooting all the mannequin heads across the map in quick succession turns Nuketown into the set of a ‘90s TV show, because of course it does.
With Season 1 finally here, you’re almost definitely wondering how to tackle BO6’s new and evolving meta. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back with all the best Black Ops 6 loadouts and Black Ops 6 weapons to use right now.
