The Tanto .22 is one of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s strongest SMGs. This weapon can eliminate opponents in as little as three shots up close, provided you can land your shots. Few weapons can down enemies as quickly as the Tanto, let alone with this level of forgiveness.

But this weapon isn’t quite optimal out of the box. With some attachment combinations and perks, you can turn the Tanto into arguably the best SMG in multiplayer and a powerhouse in Zombies. Let’s go over the strongest builds you can use for the Tanto .22 in Black Ops 6.
Stealth Tanto .22 Build
Tanto .22 Build | ||
---|---|---|
Attachment | Pros And Cons | Advanced Stats |
Suppressor (Muzzle) | ||
Long Barrel (Barrel) | ||
Vertical Foregrip (Underbarrel) |
|
|
Quickdraw Grip (Rear Grip) | ||
Infiltrator Stock (Stock) |
The Tanto is a menace up close, capable of downing an opponent in three shots. You’ll need to get fairly close to achieve this optimal TTK, so you’ll want to spec the weapon for stealth. A Suppressor is really all you need, preventing your weapon from revealing your location when you fire. A Long Barrel is also a necessity to push the Tanto’s optimal TTK out to a further distance.
Your other attachment options are quite flexible. We recommend a Quickdraw Grip to greatly lower the Tanto’s lengthy ADS time. Throw on a Vertical Foregrip to effectively remove its horizontal recoil, then use an Infiltrator Grip to quickly strafe around during a gunfight. If you don’t rely on strafe speed in duels, feel free to use another attachment in its place, such as an optic or Recoil Springs.

Column One | Scavenger, Dexterity |
Column Two | Fast Hands |
Column Three | Double Time |

Wildcard | Perk Greed |
Lethal | Preference |
Tactical | Stim |
Field Upgrade | War Cry |
You can’t go wrong with the Recon specialty for a build like this. The Tanto’s suppressor works perfectly with Ghost, hiding you from enemy radar while you’re moving. Shots won’t reveal your location, so you can go on long killing sprees without ever appearing on the minimap. We also recommend Ninja to muffle your footstep audio. Vigilance is used to trigger the Recon set bonus, although being immune to CUAVs is useful. We run Fast Hands in the second column for fast weapon swap times.
Equipment can be modified to suit your tastes. Stims are great for getting yourself out of a tough gunfight, while War Cry gives you the Enforcer Specialty for a short duration. You’ll need Perk Greed to use the perk combination we suggested earlier, so be sure to have that equipped. If you plan on prestiging, consider using an unlock token on that Wildcard specifically.

Gunfighter Tanto .22 Build
Tanto .22 Build | ||
---|---|---|
Attachment | Pros And Cons | Advanced Stats |
Volzhskiy Reflex (Optic) |
||
Compensator (Muzzle) |
|

Long Barrel (Barrel) | ||
Vertical Foregrip (Underbarrel) |

|
Extended Mag I (Magazine) |
|
|
Quickdraw Grip (Rear Grip) | ||
Infiltrator Stock (Stock) |
||
Rapid Fire (Fire Mod) |
|
|
If you’re going to use Gunfighter on the Tanto, you might as well throw on Rapid Fire to bump this weapon’s TTK as fast as possible. This does drop your range stat slightly, so you’ll want to equip a Long Barrel to counter this. For the added recoil, run a Vertical Foregrip and a Compensator to effectively remove all weapon kick. It’s a devastating combination, although you’ll now be on the minimap whenever you fire.
Of course, you’ll also want to throw on a Quickdraw Grip for fast ADS speed and an Infiltrator Stock to strafe quickly in gunfights. For your remaining attachments, use your favorite optic and magazine attachment. Extended Mags I is our recommendation, but feel free to experiment.

Column Two | Assassin |
Column Three | Double Time |

Field Upgrade | War Cry |
You aren’t using a suppressed weapon this time, so you might as well go all-in on an aggressive playstyle. Enforcer allows you to immediately heal after a kill and gain a movement speed bonus for landing final blows. To trigger this bonus, we recommend Dexterity for less weapon motion, Assassin for free points, and Double TIme for longer tactical sprint duration. Your choice of equipment is down to preference.
