Psyduck is a ranged Support-type Pokémon in Pokémon Unite that has lots of damage capabilities, making it a powerful ally. Its abilities provide lots of attack buffs making it easier for it to effectively outdamage other Pokémon. Combined with the offensive perks of its basic attack and passive ability, Psyduck can easily out-damage other Pokémon early on.
Basic Attack
Psyduck attacks with a shot of water.
Passive: Swift Swim
- When the Pokémon is damaged by an opposing Pokémon, its movement speed is increased for a short time. This effect goes on cooldown after it’s triggered.
- When this Pokémon or nearby ally Pokémontakes damage, the headache gauge increases. When the headache gauge is full, a mysterious power is triggered, shoving nearby opposing Pokémon.
- While the mysterious power is active, moves are boosted and their cooldowns are reduced.
Ability 1 – Confusion
Has the user release weak telekinetic force toward opposing Pokémon, dealing damage and leaving them unable to act. While the mysterious power is active, damage dealt to opposing Pokémonis increased.
Ability Choices at Level 4
Upon reaching Level 4, Psyduck can select either of the following two moves:
Surf | Bubble Beam |
---|---|
Has the user create a wave in the designated direction, dealing damage and applying a slowing effect to opposing Pokémon it hits. If opposing Pokémon hit by this move already have a slowing effect applied, they are shoved. The user can ride the wave for a short time and use basic attacks and moves while moving. Ally Pokémonwho touch the wave have their movement speed increased. If this move is used again, the user stops in place and creates another wave. While the mysterious power is active, the user will create two waves. | Has the user forcefully eject a spray of bubbles, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon it hits and attaching 3 bubbles. When ally Pokémon hit a bubbled opposing Pokémonwith a basic attack, a bubble bursts, dealing damage. When all bubbles are burst, the opposing Pokemon is left unable to act. While the mysterious power is active, the damage dealt when the bubbles burst is increased. |
Upgrade: Decreases the damage dealt by opposing Pokémon that are hit by this move. | Upgrade: Also applies a slowing effect when this move hits. |
Ability 2 – Tail Whip
Has the user wag its tail, dealing damage, applying a slowing effect, and decreasing the Sp. Def. of the designated opposing Pokémon. While the mysterious power is active, the opposing Pokémon’s Sp. Def. is decreased by a greater amount.
Ability Choices at Level 6
At Level 6, either of these two moves becomes available:
Disable | Psychic |
---|---|
Has the user release electricity that limits the designated opposing Pokémon’s moves while dealing damage and leaving them unable to act. The electricity spreads to nearby Pokémon5 times. (The electricity can only spread to the same Pokemon up to 2 times.) Opposing Pokémonhit by the electricity will have the cooldown of their last used move increased. If an opposing Pokemon has no move on cooldown, the cooldown of the next move it uses will be increased. When an effect to increase a move’s cooldown is applied, a slowing effect is also applied. While the mysterious power is active, the number of times the electricity spreads will increase. | Has the user release a strong telekinetic force in the designated area, dealing damage to opposing Pokémonit hits and leaving them unable to act. The user continues to release a telekinetic force at the opposing Pokemon that took damage closest to the center of the area of effect. If this move is used again, the user pulls the opposing Pokemon receiving the telekinetic force in the designated direction. While the mysterious power is active, the user leaves the opposing Pokemon unable to act after pulling them. |
Upgrade: Increases the duration that opposing Pokemon are left unable to act. | Upgrade: Decreases the Sp. Def. of opposing Pokemon hit by the telekinetic force. |
Unite Move: Full-Power Psy-ay-ay!

Pokémon Unite Psyduck Guide: Gameplay Tips
Our Pokémon Unite Psyduck Guide will now discuss how to play or a perfect game plan for the Pokémon, across the game. The following division has two sections of the early and late game, which players must make sure to read, till the end.
Early Game
Psyduck is a Support-role Pokémon that is meant to rotate lanes to help and protect allies. Regardless, it is advisable to use Psyduck in the Top/Bottom Lane, there Psyduck will be able to protect your team’s attacker-type Pokémon. While using Psyduck, First unlock Confusion to attack and farm apioms to level up alongside your team’s attacker.
The advantage of the Confusion move is that it helps Psyduck to hit enemies from far away while soaking damage to stack up its Headache Gauge. Level up to unlock, Tail Whip to slow down enemies and reduce their defense, which will in turn give your allied attacker the edge in the lane. Stack up Headache gauge, to its Mysterious power effect to increasingly lower enemy Pokémon’s defense with your boosted ability. While using Psyduck, it is essential to take note of your passive and focus on stacking up Psyduck’s headache gauge for an extra edge in battle.
As a Support-type Pokémon, ensure you stay close to your allied Pokémon so as to benefit bonus Headache gauge from damage dealt to both our and our allies. Psyduck can be annoying to deal with, mostly because of its annoying control and disable abilities. These effects are even more annoying to deal with when Psyduck levels up and attains level 4.
Psyduck is unable to evolve, therefore, on leveling up to attain level 5, you would get to choose between Surf and Bubble Beam. Both abilities are powerful, with Surf being slightly better as it hinders enemy movement by shoving them aside. If used when Psyduck’s Headache Gauge is full, Psyduck then summons extra Waves to shove nearby enemies. Bubble Beam, however, focuses on dealing lots of damage on enemies using Psyduck’s Bubbles.
Both abilities are powerful and useful in their own way, the final pick is dependent on the enemy’s composition. Nonetheless, your ability pick would determine what kind of combo you will use with Psyduck, some of the ability combos include:
- Surf + Psychic
- Bubble Beam + Disable
Late Game
On leveling up to Level 6, Psyduck can choose which ability best combos with the previously selected Level 4 ability. On choosing the best combo, you would be able to easily provide backup and assistance to help your team secure major objectives using Psyduck.
On unlocking Darkrai’s Unite move, it is best used during core teamfights as it reduces opposing Pokemo’s damage output, thus giving you and your teammate an edge during team-fight. The Unite move aftermath effect which results in increased Headache Gauge will allow Psyduck to use boosted form of his other abilities which will in turn give your team the edge.
Therefore, it’s best to save Psyduck’s Unite move for important teamfights, such as when trying to get Rayquaza or Zapdos.
In short, farm, level up, and use your disable or control abilities to mark enemy main Attacker-type Pokémon, so your team can easily take it down and gain the edge. Do also remember to focus on scoring /defending goals and taking objectives with your teammates and you’ll be just fine with Psyduck.
Positioning of Psyduck
The best path for Psyduck is the Top/Bottom Lane. Early on, Darkrai should focus on leveling up and supporting allied attackers to score and accumulate points for the team. Whilst laning with Psyduck, always endeavor to prioritize farm and stack up Psyduck’s Headache gauge to enjoy its full benefits.
