Pokemon TCG Pocket has taken the world by storm, with tens of millions of people downloading the game since its release in October of 2024. Although most people are still loving their time with it, one of the biggest complaints seems to be that there just isn’t enough content, but that could all be about to change over the coming months.

A complete list of all of the cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket and information on how to get them.
The developers have already confirmed that one highly requested feature will be added to the game in early 2025, while dataminers have discovered all kinds of interesting information within the game’s files. Those curious to learn more about everything that’s coming soon in Pokemon TCG Pocket are in luck, as we’ve gathered up all of the official and unofficial news in one place.
The following guide uses information provided by both dataminers and the game’s developers. Given the latter, it may contain mild spoilers.
New Booster Packs will be Added to Pokemon TCG Pocket Before the End of the Year
According to the November 13 Letter to the Community, the team plans to add new booster packs “by the end of the year.” Datamining suggests that set A2 (the follow-up to Genetic Apex) won’t be arriving until January 29, so these new booster packs that the developers mentioned were likely the datamined A1a booster packs, which will apparently be going live on December 16. It’s thought that the A1a booster packs will be an expansion of Genetic Apex rather than a brand-new set, either introducing a few new cards or providing players with better odds of getting rare cards than the standard Genetic Apex boosters. Whichever the case ends up being, players will probably want to start stockpiling Pack Hourglasses in anticipation of December 16.
Trading will be Added to Pokemon TCG Pocket in January 2025
The November 13 Community Letter also confirmed that trading will be added to Pokemon TCG Pocket in January 2025. To begin with, only certain cards will be tradeable, although the developers have indicated that these restrictions will be lifted as time goes by. It’s thought that certain card rarities will be untradable to begin with, but by making it so that players can only trade cards of matching rarities, the developers will presumably be able to get around the issue of players creating alt accounts and then trading any rare cards that they pull over to their mains.
As of the time of writing, there are six Promo-A cards in the game’s files that cannot be obtained in-game. P-A 010 is a full art Mewtwo card that will reportedly be given to Premium Pass players in December, while P-A 018 is a full art Venusaur that seems to be tied to an upcoming solo battle event, which dataminers believe will run between November 29 to December 13. Just like the Lapras event, players will have a chance of obtaining Promo-A packs as a reward for beating Venusaur, inside of which they’ll find one of Venusaur, Greninja (P-A 019), Haunter (P-A 020), Onix (P-A 021), and Jigglypuff (P-A 022). Bulbasaur (P-A 023) and Magnemite (P-A 024) promos will seemingly be tied to another event that’s scheduled to run between December 6 and December 20.
