Chaos Island is the penultimate stage of Shadow’s Story in Sonic X Shadow Generations and is also the final stage to have Challenges. This means it has 18 Collection Keys for players to track down if they want to see every piece of artwork, unlock every story summary, and unlock all the music.
This guide will explain how to find every last Collection Key in Chaos Island, discussing both its Acts and the four Challenges that contain Collection Keys in detail. Acquiring every last Collection Key will take some time and effort, but none of them are especially tricky in this part of Sonic X Shadow Generations.

All Collection Keys in Chaos Island Act 1 in Sonic X Shadow Generations
To grab the first Collection Key in Chaos Island Act 1, get to the section shown in the first image below and use Doom Morph to swing under the Morph Ball on the right and zip up through it. (Hold the Homing Attack Button until Shadow is directly under it, then let go to zip up.) This will carry you to an upper section, keep to the right, and hop across the platforms to get to an area with a spring, which will launch you to some more Morph Balls.
Homing Attack the first Morph Ball and then swing over to the platform using the second Morph Ball. You can then use the spring on the platform to launch yourself to the area where the Yellow Collection Key can be found. Continue onward from here.
The next collection key is at the end of the Doom Morph section shown above. Boost and jump at the end and use Doom Morph to swing under the Morph Ball in image 2 and then zip up from directly below it, hitting a Green Collection Key on the way.
The final collection key is hidden away in the section shown above. Hit the switches in image 2 using Doom Spear, then Homing Attack the hook that comes down to get up to the area with the Blue Collection Key.
All Collection Keys in Chaos Island Act 2 in Sonic X Shadow Generations
The First Collection Key in Act 2 is found in the section shown below. Use the Morph Orb to get up to the Yellow Collection Key.
To get the next collection key, reach the section shown in the first image below, use the Morph Ball to enter Doom Morph, then jump to the opposite wall and head down and over the spikes to reach the Green Collection Key.
Once you’ve got this collection key, continue through the level until you reach the checkpoint in image 1 below.
Ride the grind rail to hit a spring, then double jump and homing attack to the Morph Ball and ride up and onto the ceiling, moving to the right until you reach a grate in the ceiling with the Blue Collection Key above it. In Doom Morph you can pass right through the grate and grab it.
All Collection Keys in Chaos Island Challenges in Sonic X Shadow Generations
Chaos Island has four challenges, offering three collection keys each for a total of 12.
Chaos Island Act 1 – Challenge 1 “Cross Over With Doom Morph!” Collection Keys
The first collection key in this challenge requires you to swing over to the boost rings in the section shown in image 1 (above) and use them to bounce up to a new section. Use Doom Morph to swim up a little further and find the Blue Collection Key.
The next collection key is found in the section shown above. Swing under the Morph Ball using Doom Morph, then release the button when you’re directly under it to zip up through it and grab a Yellow Collection Key. You’ll hit a spring that will bounce you over toward the final collection key.
To get the final collection key here, once you bounce up to the section shown above, use the first Morph Ball to activate Doom Morph and then swing under the second and zip up through it to get a Blue Collection Key.
Chaos Island Act 1 – Challenge 2 “Chaos Control Master Lv3” Collection Keys
Right at the start of this challenge, you’ll reach a platforming section with the Yellow Collection Key near the end. Activate Chaos Control as soon as you reach the falling platforms and hop over to grab it.
To get to the second collection key, use the boost ring shown in image 1 above to reach an item and recharge your Chaos Control, then stop time at the platforming section shown in image 2 and jump over to the left to find it.
The final collection key is in the grind rail section as shown above. Use Chaos Control if necessary to make sure you can reach it on the leftmost rail without hitting spikes.
Chaos Island Act 2 – Challenge 1 “Gondola Master” Collection Keys
To get the first collection key in this challenge, you’ll need to reach the gondola shown above. Use it to get high enough to hop over to the platforms on the left and hop up to snag the Yellow Collection Key, before jumping up and back onto the Gondola to continue the challenge.
The next collection key requires you to carefully steer the Gondola shown above, using it to dip down under the spinning spikes and reach the Blue Collection Key.
The final collection key is tricky, requiring you to carefully manipulate the Gondola shown above. Use it to reach the platforms on the left, hop up them quickly, land back on the Gondola, and then hop to the right and race up the next set of platforms. Repeat this to race the Gondola to the top and use the Gondola to get up to the Blue Collection Key.
Chaos Island Act 2 – Challenge 2 “Destroy the Cyclones!” Collection Keys
The first collection key can be found by heading to the section shown in image 1 above. Scale the wall on the right, hop to the opposite wall, and head down and left along the ceiling, boosting to break through the enemies in the way. This will lead you to the Yellow Collection Key.
The second collection key can be found a little further on. Hit the enemy on the left in the image above with a Chaos Spear to stun it, then homing attack it to get up to a platform with the Blue Collection Key.
The final collection key is found along the main path, not far from where you got the second. Just jump into it and then stomp down to get to the bottom of this path. (Use Chaos Control to freeze the enemies, otherwise you’ll get shocked by them if you hit them.)
