In Dragon Quest 3 Remake, your equipment and stats work in tandem, boosting your capabilities without needing to always have the strongest gear possible. This makes it possible to wear armour and use weapons that better fit your playstyle than needing to always wear the latest and greatest.

Less a puff puff piece, more a perfect level up
Of course, that doesn’t mean you should avoid the best gear if it is just a solid improvement, and the Auroral Armour isn’t one you want to miss. Not only does it have one of the highest defence stats in the game, it comes packed with plenty of other special effects too. Let’s find it.
What Is The Auroral Armour?
First things first, you need to have beaten Baramos before you can get this, and have entered the World of Darkness, Alefgard. Once you have all those checked off, it is possible to find.
The Auroral Armour is supposed to be held in Tantegel Castle, alongside the Hero’s Shield and Sword of Kings, though all have been scattered across the realm. Considering the Auroral Armour comes packed with a massive defence rating, gives protection against fire and ice attacks, and even heals you when walking, it’s not one you want to miss.
Where Can You Find The Auroral Armour?
To actually find it, you’ll want to sail your way towards to northern tip of the map until you reach the Tower of Rubiss. This is where Rubiss is also being held, so make sure to pick up the Faerie Flute in Kol before coming here. With all of that underway, head on in.
While reaching Rubiss requires some tactical movement through the tower, the Auroral Armour is a much simpler treasure to find. Follow the staircases around the tower all the way up to the fourth floor, and enter the large grey building at the center of the map.
This will bring you to a room with rather precarious flooring where one false step will send you hurtling to the floor below. Use the D-pad while walking here to make sure you don’t slip off.
The most challenging part of reaching the treasure chest containing the Auroral Armour are the various tiles in your way. These twist your movement controls, rotating them 90 degree clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on which direction the coloured arrows are facing. As an extra precaution, use the up and down arrows on the D-pad to navigate as this way you won’t accidentally walk right off the edge.
Once you carefully reach the chest, plunder it to get the Auroral Armour all for yourself. You should probably save Rubiss now if you haven’t already. The armour will be a great help there.
There’s also a Chimaera monster hiding in this room, so pick them up before you leave
