The Most Valuable Magneton Pokemon TCG Cards

The Most Valuable Magneton Pokemon TCG Cards

Magneton’s time in the Pokemon TCG has been long and fruitful, with this original Kantonian Pokemon flaunting dozens of different iterations over the years. Age has been kind to this Electric-type magnet, but Magneton’s most valuable cards aren’t exclusive to older sets, with a gorgeous modern promo card making an appearance among the best.

Pikachu is back with a strong cast of Special Illustration Rares.

Whether you’re a fan of vintage sets like Skyridge and Aquapolis or you prefer the latest card designs in the TCG, Magneton has a blend of cards with a broad appeal. Even though it’s far from the most popular Kantonian Pokemon, Magneton makes a huge splash with some impressively expensive cards.

Cards are ordered according to their TCGPlayer Market Price, which you might pay on average for a copy of the (first edition, where applicable) cards below.

Given the age and rarity of these cards, only those with an established market price on TCGplayer are included.

However, sale prices differ depending on the card’s condition, so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value.

An Electric Scene

The Magneton Pokemon Center Exclusive in the Pokemon TCG.

Magneton’s best cards start with an impressively high bar of entry, with this superb card from the Scarlet & Violet era setting the tone for what else you can expect. This chaotic scene features Magneton at the center of some electrical energy crackling around it, creating a mosaic-like pattern similar to what Giratina V from Lost Origin has.

This Pokemon Center exclusive promo boasts a significant edge over its non-exclusive cousin, though time will play a key role in determining where this card falls. This Magneton’s price may decrease as it ages, but its opening around the $40 mark was a momentous occasion for Magneton.

Dark Magneton: Team Rocket First Edition (Holo Rare) – $46.62

Holo Blotches And Bubbles

The Magneton Team Rocket Holo Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

Some of the most valuable cards from Team Rocket feature Pokemon with the iconic “Dark” moniker, which includes all-time great cards like the Dark Charizard from this set. Aside from the excellent pedigree this set has, Magneton’s design is perfect for the cosmos holo pattern, which is incredibly prominent on this card.

First edition copies of this card are noticeably higher priced, with heavily played (HP) starting things off at $16, with moderately played (MP) cards following suit with sales around $25. For better quality, you can expect lightly played (LP) variants to fetch about $28, while the nicest near-mint (NM) cards can hit highs of $58.99 and even $110 in one case.

4

Magneton: Aquapolis (Holo Rare) – $54.19

A Hidden Gem

The Magneton Holo Rare from Aquapolis in the Pokemon TCG.

Aquapolis can sometimes fly under the radar when it comes to the earliest vintage offerings, with cards like this Magneton exemplifying how this incredibly rare set’s cards swerve the spotlight. While this Magneton is one of the most expensive cards this Pokemon has, the art understates its value due to the darker shades that obscure this Pokemon’s details.

These iconic Pokemon TCG sets are highly coveted, and with high demand comes an equally high cost.

Appearances aside, this Magneton is incredibly rare and can be painful to find on TCGplayer, with only two recent LP sales to analyze. However, there are plenty of listings starting as low as $15 for damaged copies, so this card’s market price should solidify once some more listings are purchased.

3

Lt. Surge’s Magneton: Gym Heroes First Edition (Holo Rare) – $80.63

Charged Up

The Magneton Holo Rare from Gym Heroes in the Pokemon TCG.

Lt. Surge’s Magneton raises the temperature as this valuable Gym Heroes card vaults well above the previous card’s value, though it’s well short of the next card on the list. This card combines the glimmering holo patterns we saw in Team Rocket and uses it to complement Magneton as it’s charging electricity.

Gym Heroes features multiple trainer and Pokemon combinations, including Lt. Surge, who pairs up with teammates like Magneton and Raichu.

You can pick up Unlimited copies of this card fairly cheaply, with most conditions available for under $15, but the first edition variants will put a premium on the card that can reach over $77 for NM copies. However, you can find LP cards for a nice discount, with sales typically below $35.

2

Magneton: Skyridge (Holo Rare) – $189.48

A Magneton Like No Other

The Magneton Holo from Skyridge in the Pokemon TCG.

Skyridge is another expensive vintage set that flaunts a fantastic roster of incredibly rare cards that become even harder to get in better conditions. While this Magneton isn’t the most visually appealing on the list, it boasts an incredibly strong value due to its rarity.

Rarity, condition, set, and popularity all factor into a Pokemon card’s value, though the importance of each factor varies.

Much like Aquapolis’ Magneton, this card only has two recent sales on TCGplayer, with an HP copy fetching about $80 while an NM copy hit $180, giving a fairly accurate idea of this card’s price range. While more sales are required to confirm the market price, it’s likely to stay around the same price for the time being.

1

Magneton: Base Set First Edition (Holo Rare) – $241.12

The Greatest Magnet

The Magneton Base Set Holo from the Pokemon TCG.

Magneton’s original art from the Base Set captures the throne as the best Magneton card of all time, earning the title on the back of a beautiful depiction from an iconic set. Even if you’re not particularly fond of Magneton, you can appreciate the simple perfection of Magneton’s pose combined with the glimmering background.

Condition is important, but edition is the key factor, as NM Unlimited copies sit around $70, while first edition copies of the same condition will shift into the $350 range. MP first edition cards offer almost 50 percent off the top end of the range, clocking in at $190. More sales of LP and NM cards will likely help to push this card’s market price up if they continue trending upward.
