Mr. Reca Leaks and Speculation Explained

Mr. Reca Leaks and Speculation Explained

The latest Honkai: Star Rail story takes place in Penacony’s Paperfold University, where the Trailblazer experiences university life while dealing with a memetic virus that’s infecting students’ minds. During this adventure, Honkai: Star Rail players encounter some interesting characters, such as a famous film director named Mr. Reca.

Mr. Reca is an eccentric character, who is passionate about using dream bubble technology to make his next film with the help of his “assistant director,” a mechanical frog. Apart from being a director, he is also a Memokeeper from the Garden of Recollection, just like Black Swan, and uses filmmaking as a medium to collect memories. Although Mr. Reca’s just an NPC now, there has been a lot of speculation about his role in Honkai: Star Rail in future updates.

Honkai: Star Rail’s Mr. Reca Might Not Be An NPC For Long

Mr. Reca’s role in Version 2.6’s story, “Annals of Pinecany’s Mappou Age,” has captured the attention of many fans thanks to his over-the-top personality and intelligence in the fight against Profnana Primon. Because of this, many want to see more of the character and even recruit him to their teams. There have been rumors that Mr. Reca might be a playable 4-star character in a future update, but there hasn’t been any information about his abilities. Based on his design, the possibility of him becoming playable might be likely, and he might even have abilities based on the alleged new Path called Remembrance, which will reportedly be introduced in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0.

The Path of Remembrance is playable only in the Simulated Universe, which has great focus on freeze effects. However, the rumored Path in the main game is said to allow characters to summon a Servant that can act independently. They seem to be similar to Atlus’ Personas, but have different abilities and damage outputs separate from their host characters, which would be the first time that Honkai: Star Rail will have such a mechanic in the main game. Mr. Reca’s kit is still unknown, but considering that he’s a Memokeeper that follows the Path of Remembrance and has a mechanical frog friend that he could probably summon on the battlefield, he might be one of the first characters to wield the new Path.

On the other hand, Honkai: Star Rail also has a history of introducing very detailed NPCs that play important roles in the story, but don’t end up being playable. A recent example is Micah, a Gravekeeper in Penacony’s Dreamflux Reef, who players want as a playable unit because of his cool backstory and design. However, it’s likely that Micah may remain in the confines of his world, and Mr. Reca may experience the same fate if he doesn’t come out as a 4-star character in Version 3.0. This could be disappointing news for many fans, but HoYoverse did eventually turn Liyue’s Cloud Retainer into a playable Genshin Impact character, so perhaps hope is not lost for Honkai: Star Rail‘s NPCs.

More Exciting Characters Are Lined Up in the Next Major Honkai: Star Rail Arc

Next year, Honkai: Star Rail will kick off its next major arc, which is taking place on the fourth planet, Amphoreus. This means that a new set of characters will be on the horizon, including a leaked character named Aglaea, Herta’s rumored real form, and Trailblazer’s next variant. Some leaks about characters in Version 3.0 and beyond don’t seem to mention Mr. Reca, but this could still change in the coming months. Overall, it will be interesting to see how the Astral Express Crew and their new companions will solve the mysteries of Amphoreus.
