The Americas RMR for the PW Shanghai Major 2024 has come to an end, making it a total of 10 teams qualified for the biggest CS2 tournament of the year. Today, two spots were up for grabs, which were claimed by Brazilian teams Imperial and FURIA. Read on for a closer look at the action from today’s matches.
Imperial’s RED Canids win is enough to secure Major spot

Earlier in the day, Imperial faced off against coldzera’s RED Canids in what would prove to decide the 6th place team in the PW Shanghai Major 2024 Americas RMR. On the day, Imperial won 2:0, although it was closer than that scoreline suggests. The second map went to double overtime, and RED Canids will be frustrated they couldn’t push this one a little bit further, although the CS2 odds were never in their favor.
On the day, a big performance from youngster decenty and veteran felps went a long way to get Imperial over the line here. A strong performance from HEN1 wasn’t enough for RED Canids, who struggled as coldzera failed to put up the numbers he had been at this RMR. Thanks to the seeding, this victory over RED Canids was enough to ensure Imperial didn’t have to play in the brutal 7th-place decider match.
FURIA demolish M80 despite slow starts

After beating 9z Team and BESTIA respectively, FURIA and M80 faced off in a second match of the day to determine who would grab the final Americas RMR spot for the PW Shanghai Major 2024. NA vs. SA. It proved to be a dominating victory for FURIA, who actually started slow on both maps.
On Anubis, they were 8:3 down at one point, winning 10 consecutive rounds to take the map 13:8. Then, on Vertigo, FURIA were 5:2 down, before winning 11 of the next 14 rounds to close out this series in style. Once FURIA got going, they were simply too hot to handle for M80, who will be devastated to miss a CS2 Major most had them pegged to attend prior to the RMR.
