As of the time of writing, there are eleven different currencies in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Although they all have their uses, the most valuable of these is undoubtedly Poke Gold, which can be used for both pack pulls and Wonder Picks. Each piece of Poke Gold also has the same effect as two Hourglasses, meaning players will only need half as much gold to make their pulls.

Pokemon TCG Pocket players can get free Poke Gold just by earning XP and leveling up their account. For each new level that they hit, they’ll be rewarded with one or two pieces of Poke Gold, meaning that it’s possible to earn at least fifty pieces this way before hitting Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s level cap. It’s important to note that the higher the player’s level gets, the more XP they’ll need to level up, and the only way to reliably farm XP right now is by winning PvP battles, which can be a bit of a grind. However, for those looking to get Poke Gold without spending any money, this is the only viable method at the moment.
Poke Gold Alternatives in Pokemon TCG Pocket
The good news is that players don’t need Poke Gold to be able to enjoy all of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s features. Save for some cosmetic items that come bundled with Poke Gold purchases, everything that can be bought using Poke Gold can also be bought using one of the game’s ten other currencies. Realistically, though, most people are going to be spending their Poke Gold on Wonder Picks and pack pulls, in which case, players could just as easily be using Wonder and Pack Hourglasses instead of Poke Gold. Both of these currencies can be earned by completing missions or purchased from the shop using Shop Tickets. Each time the shop in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s stock refreshes, players will be able to buy 70 of each, which should come in handy for those hoping to pull something good.
