Building and opening a ride is only the start of your management in Planet Coaster 2. Rides will deteriorate over time, so you need to keep them healthy and serviced. Provided they’ve been serviced, they’ll be given a service badge, which will stop it from breaking down. Once that badge expires, it’ll be possible for the ride to breakdown.

Planet Coaster 2: Best Flat Rides, Ranked
You don’t need big rollercoasters to make an impact with these flat rides in Planet Coaster 2.
During the Career and while you focus on the scenarios’ many objectives, you’ll likely encounter a notification that says a ride’s service badge has expired, but the game doesn’t tell you how to fix it. Since it’s something that starts to come up a lot, especially if you have a lot of rides in your park, it can be frustrating.
How To Fix Expired Service Badge
If the notification is popping up and you simply want it to go away, there’s a nice and easy fix that’ll remove it for at least the time being. Select the ride that you’ve received the warning for and head to its maintenance tab, which is indicated by a spanner. From there, select Emergency Refurbish to send a mechanic to look after the ride.
This will cost some money and make the notification go away, but it’s not the best solution. It’s more of a covering up of the cracks.
How To Stop Service Badges Expiring
However, the correct way to fix an expired service badge is a little complicated. You’ll likely be seeing the notification because of a slight issue with the game and how mechanic staff work. While they should automatically service rides around your park, they don’t always do so.
To fix that, you need to set up a detailed staff schedule that sends mechanics to specific rides. Follow the steps below:
- Select the ride that you want the Service Badge renewed on.
- Open up the maintenance tab for the ride and select the Staff Schedule option.
- Find the mechanic you want assigned to the ride in the list of employed staff.
- Edit a time slot for the mechanic’s schedule.
Every two hours is a good schedule to have the mechanic check a ride.
- Select Advanced Settings and then the little pinpoint icon under Service and Repair.
- Select the ride you want serviced.
- Then, the mechanic should service the ride automatically on time.
Provided that works as intended, the ride should remain serviced and you won’t see the Expired Service Badge notification at all.
