Key Takeaways
- Earlier this week, Rockstar released an update for the GTA Trilogy that fixed many of its problems.
- That update strangely also highlighted what appears to be a reference to GTA 6 and a sign that can be spotted in its first trailer.
- Interestingly, that texture appears to have been in the game for some time now, suggesting it was put there as a nod to a trailer that released two years later.
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a texture from the GTA 6 trailer hiding within the files of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, and it seems to have been there for quite some time.
As every Grand Theft Auto fan is painfully aware of by now, we’re all absolutely starving for new information about GTA 6. It’s nearly been a whole year since the first trailer released and, beyond the release date being confirmed for Fall 2025, we’ve heard literally nothing more about one of the most anticipated games of all time.

Why The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Much More To Prove Than GTA 6
Valve has famously always struggled to count to three. After more than a decade each since their flagship series’ most recent entry, Rockstar and Bethesda are finally ready to count to six.
Although Rockstar is keeping annoyingly quiet about GTA 6 and seems unlikely to release the second trailer until 2025, the series as a whole hasn’t been so quiet. Earlier this week, an update dropped for GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition that fixed many of its problems, and even gave those of us waiting on GTA 6 something to get excited about.
GTA 6 Texture Spotted In GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition
As pointed out by Redditor Skindiamondxx on the GTA 6 subreddit, GTAForums administrator Spider-Vice recently shared a texture that was found buried within the GTA Trilogy’s files after the recent game-fixing update. The texture in question is a little sign that says, “We will no longer accept cash stored in underwear”, and it can be spotted in the final scene of the first trailer for GTA 6.
The rest of the texture is just a swinging door and isn’t all that interesting, but the appearance of a little note that’s going to appear in GTA 6 is very strange. To make matters even more interesting, Spider-Vice confirmed that the texture has actually been in the GTA Trilogy for some time now, as the update actually only fixed its orientation and made it easier to spot.
Considering the GTA Trilogy launched in 2021 and the first trailer for GTA 6 released last year, that means that the texture has actually been hiding in the Trilogy’s files for nearly three years now. It’s not clear if it’s a purposeful GTA 6 easter egg or just a random texture that’s been reused by Grove Street Games or Rockstar, but it’s a unique find nonetheless.
