  • Death Stranding is currently available for 50 percent off on Xbox.

Death Stranding has released a new update on Xbox that addresses a bug having to do with the console’s Quick Resume feature. A former PlayStation console exclusive, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding was recently ported to Xbox Series X/S seemingly out of nowhere, leading to a surge of hype and excitement regarding the game’s sequel. Xbox gamers are happy to finally be able to go hands-on with Kojima’s critically acclaimed title.

While certainly a divisive game due to its slower pace, Death Stranding was nevertheless one of the biggest games of 2019, as many would expect for a Kojima production. The game went on to be nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards next to titles like Remedy’s Control, the Resident Evil 2 remake, and Sekiro: Shadow’s Die Twice, which ultimately took home the award. Death Stranding‘s director’s cut, the version that made its way to Xbox last week, was released in 2021 and enhanced the game for PlayStation 5. The Game Awards 2022 was home to the reveal of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which remains one of the biggest upcoming titles.

With just about one week passing since Death Stranding appeared on Xbox out of thin air, publisher 505 Games has rolled out a small update for the otherwise polished port. On Twitter, 505 Games Support let players know that Death Stranding‘s Quick Resume bug has been resolved. Prior to the fix, some players using the feature were running into trouble saving their progress in the game. While there weren’t any further patch notes, as it was the port’s only major issue, 505 Support noted that the most up-to-date version of Death Stranding on Xbox is version 1.4.1917.0.

Death Stranding Xbox Quick Resume Bug Has Been Fixed

It’s become quite rare for a game to release with so few bugs, especially for a port of a five-year-old game coming to a completely different console for the first time from a studio that had yet to release a game for said console. Such a feat is a testament to Kojima Productions and its QA and testing teams. Some Kojima fans have been wondering whether this sudden move to bring Death Stranding to Xbox was one meant to get its community up to date with the first game before Kojima potentially announces a multiplatform release for Death Stranding 2. While this is certainly possible, others simply see it as the expiration of whatever exclusivity deal PlayStation had in place for Death Stranding.

Death Stranding is currently available for Xbox users to nab for 50% off, though it’s unclear when the game return to its $40 price tag. With the Game Awards right around the corner, Kojima might have some more news in store for Death Stranding fans who have eagerly been awaiting the game’s sequel since its reveal two years ago.
