Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Rumored Halo Crossover Has Been a Long Time Coming

While Call of Duty began as a more realistic and gritty portrayal of warfare, the FPS giant has since gained an affinity for pushing the limits of what themes and esthetics can be expected within its multiplayer components. With the growing demand for complex customization within competitive multiplayer titles, modern CoD releases are usually accompanied by a wide range of in-game bundle purchases that offer extremely eye-catching weapon blueprints, operator skins, and much more.

The most memorable of these bundles are often rooted in promotional content with other franchises or real-world famous faces, with 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 famously featuring collaborative content with the likes of Dune, The Boys, Fallout, and even Nicki Minaj. The wild operator skins and weapon blueprints of Black Ops 6‘s first seasonal battle pass prove that the game is not afraid to continue this trend, with rumors once again sparking up around a crossover with Halo, another FPS giant owned by Microsoft.

A Halo collaboration with Call of Duty was initially reported earlier in 2024 before falling through, showing a clear interest in such a crossover that is now rumored to finally come to fruition with Black Ops 6. This comes alongside rumors of CoD collaborations with other Microsoft-owned IPs like Gears of War and DOOM, and it is clear to imagine what kind of content would likely come with a thorough Halo crossover in BO6.

Halo’s Iconic Characters, Weapons, Vehicles, and Modes Are Perfect For a Black Ops 6 Crossover

As the face of the franchise, it seems like a sure thing that Master Chief would appear as an in-game operator for Black Ops 6 through a collaboration, with weapon blueprints perhaps even appearing to mimic the franchise’s iconic ranged weapons like the Needler, Plasma Pistol, or its futuristic assault rifle. Even more likely, a Halo collaboration for Black Ops 6 would surely include the Energy Sword as a new melee weapon, with iconic weaponry from other franchises being key to past collaborations with CoD.

Like other major CoD crossovers, it should be expected that a Halo collaboration would come with its own limited-time mode, perhaps something like Capture the Flag or Grifball, with the event also being likely to come with its own community-wide challenges. These challenges could unlock Halo-related weapon charms, stickers, and sprays, perhaps even culminating in another major operator skin, like the Arbiter. This crossover could even impact Warzone, with potential vehicle re-skins being introduced to match the likes of the iconic Warthog, showing just how much content players could expect to see should this rumored Halo collaboration with BO6 ever see the light of day.
