Avowed system requirements are surprisingly light, unless you enable ray tracing

What are the Avowed system requirements? While this game’s release might be a few months away, Avowed is now up for pre-order, along with the PC spec you’ll need to play it. We’re pleased to report that you won’t need an absolute monster of a PC to play it, unless you want to enable ray tracing.

Now that the Avowed release date has been revealed, the game is gearing up for launch.  There isn’t a fancy system requirements chart for Avowed, which breaks down recommended PC builds for each preset. Instead, it’s a classic bulleted list, and you’ll need a decent last-gen GPU to run it at the recommended settings.

Here are the Avowed system requirements:

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit with updates Windows 10 64-bit with updates
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Intel Core i5 8400
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Intel Core i7 10700K
Memory 16GB RAM 16GB RAM
Graphics AMD Radeon RX 5700
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
Intel Arc A580
AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
Nvidia RTX 3080
DirectX Version 12 Version 12
Storage 75GB (SSD required) 75GB (SSD required)

The Avowed minimum requirements aren’t ridiculously high. The good old Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 is still in the mix, which is a nearly decade-old GPU, based on Nvidia’s Pascal architecture. You’ll also only need a Core i5 or Ryzen 5 CPU from a few years back to cope with the game, with an AMD Ryzen 5 2700 or Intel Core i5 8400 specified.

We expect that the minimum requirements will allow you to play Avowed at 1080p with a 30fps frame rate, with the recommended sitting pretty at 1080p 60fps (or a higher resolution),. Even the budget-friendly Intel Arc 580 is included in the minimum specs.

Meanwhile, the Avowed recommended requirements seriously up their game, with an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 required, presumably so that you can enable ray tracing, which is supported by the game. These GPUs were near the top-end of the AMD and Nvidia lineups a few years ago, so it looks as though Avowed needs a beefy last-gen GPU to enable ray tracing, even if i doesn’t require a current-gen graphics card.

Finally, the Avowed download size is 75GB, and while it pains us to say it, this isn’t so bad. However, Xbox Wire does specify that you will need an SSD for this game. This is par for the course now, as solid-state storage allows for games to load all that data far faster than a mechanical hard drive. It doesn’t say whether it needs to be an NVMe drive or not, but it’s a safer bet to grab the best gaming SSD that you can afford.

We’ve also no real indication of how the game will ultimately run on the Steam Deck, or the roster of other handhelds until it properly lands. We suspect it will run respectably at a low preset and at 1,280 x 800. However, there’s no indication if Avowed will support AMD FSR yet, although the game will support Nvidia DLSS 3.

Avowed is set to launch on February 18, 2025, after a delay. It’ll be Obsidian’s first RPG under the Xbox banner too, having launched the survival game Grounded and Pentient, an adventure title. It’ll hit Game Pass on both Xbox and PC, as well as launch on Battle.net and Steam.
