Assassin’s Creed Shadows Might Be Delaying The Inevitable
With a crowded February launch, and a dated Ubisoft style behind it, the next few months of tweaks might not save Shadows from itself.
As first spotted on Reddit, Shadows’ first “Battle Pass” has had its details revealed. Those details include images of several unlockable outfits, mounts and weapons. Not only that, but the leaks also give us our first look at what Ubisoft is calling the Animus Hub, a larger application that will be the home for future AC installments. Think: Call of Duty HQ but for Assassin’s Creed.
There’s A Battle Pass For Everything
Via that available information, it appears that Yasuke will be the main controllable character in the hub. It’s unclear if Naoe, the game’s other protagonist, can be selected.
Additionally, as it stands, the first “Battle Pass” will be completely free to progress through. It is similarly unclear if future passes will have a paid element. When Shadows was delayed several weeks ago, Ubisoft made some sweeping changes, including removing Early Access, as well as making the game’s first planned expansion free. A free preliminary Battle Pass would go along with those initiatives.
Among the unlockable elements are some weapons titled “Cereluean Nexus,” along with the aforementioned mount, as well as some currency. That first pass is titled Eye In The Dark, and according to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the subsequent passes will be titled The Hidden Network, The Last Ronin and In The Shadows, respectively.
It’s not much, but it does give us some idea of what Ubisoft has in mind for the future of the AC series. As has been rumored in the past, there are plans to release 10 Assassin’s Creed titles in the next 5 years, all of which will presumably be part of this Animus Hub launcher. That would mean that future quasi Battle Passes could soon be part of the equation, though only time will tell what exactly Ubisoft has in store for gamers.
