Nosin Makant

An Old Classic In A Modern Setting

One of the first weapons you can get your hands on when starting out. The Nosin is often underrated, but it can carry you pretty far in the early game. It’s the only starter weapon that comes with a long range scope, and it’s very good at headshotting bandits from afar.

The only drop offs are its fire rate, penetration through armor, and the scope can be a little awkward to use at first. But for beginners in those first handful of zones, running as a sneaky sniper can be a real lifesaver. Plus, even if it runs out of ammunition you can still use the scope to spy ahead for threats.

Shooting with a telescopic scope gaurantees 100% accuracy as there’s no bullet travel time. It’s instant damage regardless of gun type.

Apar

A Low End Yet Useful Assault Rifle

The first assault rifle you’ll probably come across and one that’s carried by most patrolling bandits, the Apar is a decent weapon to hang onto. If you’re hurting for ammo and a gun, it’s worth grabbing. It doesn’t put out a lot of damage, but it’s still fairly sturdy and good for suppressing a target long enough so you can leave.

With some attachments it can be a bit more useful in firefights. But in general, if you find something stronger it’s worth swapping out the Apar once you start going further and further out. Especially if you start encountering hostile’s equipped with military level gear as that will just tear through your armor like paper.

EC 74

An AK In All But Name

A ergonomic yet slightly low damaging assault rifle, the EC 74 is a sturdy workhorse of a rifle that will get you through most of the mid tier levels of the game. Most bandits will be carrying some form of the EC or ES variant of this rifle as it’s the games version of the Kalashnikov.

Sticking stocks, suppressors and a larger magazine like a drum mag can substantially enhance an EC 74, but even the basic version can still pack a solid punch. It’s also a very light gun as it weighs three kilograms, so it won’t slow you down too much when you’re running around.

Whilst you may feel the need to mag dump on a target, don’t. Doing so with lower the durability of guns faster, and will cause them to jam after a few shots. In a firefight that’s a death sentence.

ZZ Vel

The Spetsnaz Special

Considered by many to be the best weapon in the entire game, the ZZ Vel is an absolute demon when it comes to damage. Its main selling point is that it comes with a suppressor and has a blisteringly high rate of fire that can turn an entire room of bandits into swiss cheese in seconds.

However, its main downsides are that it exhausts its ammo pool and its range is not great. But, you can get around this with a drum magazine, a good scope and grip to stabilize it. Your biggest issue is finding one as it’s only available after killing Lazar, or as a reward from the Clear The Swamp and Missing Group quests. So there’s at least three out there that you can get, eventually.

The ZZ Vel has an option for muzzle attachments, but its suppressor can’t be removed, or a new barrel modification attached. It’s an odd bug.

Boulder

A Reliable Street Sweeper

If volume over accuracy is your forte, then the Boulder is definitely worth picking up. This drum fed shotgun hits a nice and wide four by two grid size with a respectable damage of 54 per pellet. Its accuracy isn’t something to write home about, but considering the amount of rounds going at a target, it’s not going to matter.

It’s also pretty lightweight with five kilograms for the base model. The downside is the price, which is around 43 thousand Roubles. But it’s got plenty of modifications to make it an absolute fiend. To get your hands on one, head to the Bunker and speak to Alexei Andreevich of the Green Army. He’ll sell you it happily.

The Boulders design is that of the Striker shotgun from RE4, which is based on the Armsel Striker or Street Sweeper Shotgun in real life. Which is a 12 round shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Marauder 700 Modern

A modern take and genuine upgrade of the Marauder 700 bolt-action, the Modern is a sleek military version that you definitely want in your inventory. With the right scope you can send a lovely 65 damage NATO round right between someone’s eyes. However, watch out for that recoil as it’s a very punchy 120.

Its accuracy without a scope is also still ridiculously high at 99, and with an eye-watering price of 52 thousand Roubles it’s quite an investment. Unfortunately it’s very hard to get your hands on as it’s only available through Daniel Baker of the Crimson Corporation. Plus, you also need a relation score of at least 600 with him before he’ll even sell you it. But it’s worth the effort.

VRIZZ Sector

More Firehose Than Firearm.

A submachine gun that a lot of people in the Zero Sievert community recommend, the VRIZZ Sector is a bullet buzzsaw. Now, normally these little bullet spewers are a bad idea unless you’re going in close range all the time. But, the VRIZZ has a trick up its sleeve that sets it aside from the others, a 50 round drum magazine mod and a high rate of fire.

With a drum mag strapped to this extremely cheap little submachine gun, you can make all your problems go away under a hail of lead. They’re sold by Joel Emerson and are only 25 thousand each. The damage rate is a low 15, but again, the volume is what you’re focusing on as it’s 1200 rounds per minute. So it’s super fast. They also take 45 ACP rounds as well. So if you’re stocked up on pistol rounds you can just pour them into it. Ergonomic, economic and strong, the VRIZZ is a very good gun.

SKOP H

A Big Gun With A Big Profile

The last assault rifle you’ll need in the game as you start to unlock all the maps, the SKOP H is bought from Crimson Corporation members. It’s a very punchy and powerful NATO weapon that will just chew through armored bandits and big ghouls with ease.

The Vlok 17 is based on the Austrian Glock, and it’s just as useful. It hits for 19 damage, has a high accuracy of 70, fire rate of 514 and a clip size of 17. So you can chuck a lot of rounds out with a relatively low miss rate. Plus, with a scope and laser attached you can pick off targets without any further problems popping up.

NC47 Chimera

A brilliant all-around weapon that’s highly customizable, the NC47 Chimera will carry you far through the mid to late game. Based on the TR-15 in real life, the Chimera fires seven point six two rounds and is super light at just three and a half kilograms.

Its damage is fairly mid at just 22, but it’s accuracy of 86 is great and its customisation is its best selling point. For example, you can throw a 60 round magazine onto it and let it rip. Or go for the sneaky suppressor and scope route. There’s so many things you can stack onto it to solve any situation.
