Key Takeaways
- This Starfield player spent 1,100 hours grinding to level 1,000.
- You earn enough skill points for everything in the game by level 326, so OP did it just for the bragging rights.
- Getting XP is incredibly difficult once you pass a certain threshold, so they had to craft 15 million vytininium fuel rods.
One Starfield player managed to reach level 1,000 after a staggering 1,100 hours.
To put that figure into perspective, it translates to around 45 days of Starfield. That means they have spent over ten percent of their time playing Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG since it launched.
There’s No Point To Reaching Level 1,000
And It’s One Helluva Grind
It must’ve taken a lot of patience to reach that milestone, but there’s not much payoff to the level 1,000 grind.
At level 326, you have enough skill points to max out every single skill in the game. That alone is an impressive milestone, but they somehow got to level 450 by playing “normally”.
Why then, would you bother doubling up? Getting to level 450 is one thing, but that’s not even halfway to 1,000 and already you’ve made skillpoints redundant. The answer… just cause.
“I decided to try and reach level 500, then 600, and eventually level 1,000,” they explain. “After a certain point, the only way to gain levels was by crafting vytininium fuel rods. Normal gameplay just couldn’t keep up.”
In total, they crafted around 15 million vytininium fuel rods, using an AutoHotkey to automate the crafting. But that doesn’t mean they automated the grind, since they still had to collect the materials to begin with.
It Took Them 121 In-Game Years
Let’s Look At The Stats
OP was nice enough to share all of their stats, giving us a glimpse at just how much they’ve accomplished in their 1,000 hours of Starfield.
The most impressive feat is that they spent 121 in-game years levelling up. Over a century of Starfield! In that time, they were able to fully survey 616 planets, kill 5,000 people, build 280 outposts, and hoard 43.5 million credits.
There’s not much else for them to do at that point, and starting NG+ would mean resetting all of their progress made grinding vytininium fuel rods and building outposts. But at least there’s a second DLC on the horizon. Maybe they can scrounge up another million credits and find another few thousand people to kill, eh?
Starfield is the first new IP from Bethesda in a quarter of a century, launched for the next-gen Xbox Series X|S and PC. Taking place outside our own Solar System, you play a member of the Constellation, a collective of explorers set on discovering new worlds.
